searching for hospitals which offer H1B nurse sponsorship

World Immigration

Published

Hi everyone,

I will graduate in May 2009 from a university in Philadelphia. However, I'm an international student with F1 visa right now. The counselor in school told me that it is very hard for me to find a job in US after graudation. Does anyone know those hospitals that still offer H1B sponsorship for nurse? Thanks.

Specializes in CTICU.

They don't have to be a specialist. They have to be a "skilled professional" in a role while requires a bachelor degree as a minimum.

My faux pas I incorrectly worded my description, I meant specialist as define in the dictionary as "expert is their field" not a clinical nurse specialist.

Since we are talking about specific word, I don't see the word " Skilled" in the above memo. To my international colleagues, using this board no one hear is an expert in immigration, if you need further clarification seek the advice from the government or a licensed attorney.

It is so tiresome to have people post things that they read on the internet and have no experience with, and then disagree/contradict someone who DOES have a work visa and personal experience of such. I really don't think i will bother posting in this forum anymore.

CCU, HD Nurses from Philippines with 1 year of experience get their H-1Bs approved even without CCRN.

At least that's what this recruiter claims, unless this is a scam

JOBS ABROAD: Nurse (US-RN) H1B Visa

So somehow they qualify? I really would like to know how??

"skilled professional" i wonder if they get filipino nurses iv therapy certificates and the hospitals write a job description for "hemodialysis nurse?"

i meant to write, have iv therapy or hemodialysis certificates and the hospitals write a job description for those advance practical nurse jobs because many apn jobs do not have masters.

Specializes in ACNP-BC, Adult Critical Care, Cardiology.

just to clarify, the term "advanced practice nurse" or apn as used in the us strictly refers to four nursing roles namely np, cns, crna, and cnm. all four of these roles require a specialty-focused master's degree at the very least to be eligible for national certification and have a defined, state-specific scope of practice.

north american educated nurses have iv therapy as part of their basic education and don't require a certificate to apply for a job. dialysis certification is usually obtained via employer based training after the nurse is hired.

apn designation is usually for nurse practitioners.

I graduated last year in August 2010, filed for OPT, USCIS delayed my authorization card for 6 months, and I barely got my Rn license on May 31st.

I got hired at a hospital (starts later in july though), and also have another job interview at Cedar Sinai, which is a Magnet hospital and because of their status, they only accept BSN.

Im trilingual (English, Spanish and Korean). And because L.A is heavily populated of koreans and hispanics, and I have my BSN, I would be in the "specialized" category? I am getting in the ER or ICU so I could be more eligible.

Truthfully speaking, ordinary American people not are trilingual, and these languages are needed to meet the population needs. As I was reading on a post that there needs to be shown proof that ordinary american people can't fulfill the job requirements or something. So as a new nurse graduate, do you think I would have a chance for H1B?

thank you so much in advanced!

so which of the following msn degree is wise to pursue if you are a F1 student and wanting to work in the U.S. after your graduation:

Clinical Nurse Specialsit

OR

Nurse Practitioner

Or some other MSN programs? Someone knowledgeable, please advise. Thank you so much.

Hi Enfermera, I know this post is almost one year ago, but I'm just curious about what has happened since then. How did you get hired at a hospital? Did you tell them about your current immigration status? Do you have a H1b visa now? I didn't know how I could contact you, so if you see this message, please let me know! I'm also speak Korean and I will start my OPT this July, so it'll be great if you can help me out! :) Thank you for your help in advance!
