  1. i meant to write, have iv therapy or hemodialysis certificates and the hospitals write a job description for those advance practical nurse jobs because many apn jobs do not have masters.
  2. "skilled professional" i wonder if they get filipino nurses iv therapy certificates and the hospitals write a job description for "hemodialysis nurse?"
  3. What the purpose here is to get easy licensure states, not a debate on compact states. No foreign nurse in his or her right mind would go for initial licensure in Arizona. They eat their young in Arizona. Our recommendation for 2 easy states is Vermont and Arkansas. Arkansas also happens to be a compact state. To get an RN license in Vermont or Arkansas one does not have to have residency in the state and does not have to have an SSN. Every nurse coming to America should license in the absolutely easiest state possible and then, if necessary, adjust status to the state of actual employment. Never license initially in Michigan, Pennsylvania or New York; especially PA and NY. By the way, you folks with VisaScreen. Check your date on that VisaScreen. It is good for 5-years. With the way visa retrogression is NOT getting fixed, be prepared to have to pay another fee to renew it.
  4. ellean55 and others in a similar situation, the best way i believe to get around this visa retrogression thing is to get a masters degree in nursing, or obtain a nurse practitioner designation. then you can get hired on an h1b and after hire your employer can adjust your status to the eb-2. now the real challenge rears its ugly head . . . in many markets american trained nurses cannot get work and hiring freezes abound. also for those of you here on a visitors visa trying to get an h1b, if you are the typical rn from abroad with a bsn and little experince, you likely do not stand a chance of being hired on an h1b. we are seeing a number of nurses brought from the pi on h1b's getting laid off and have to go home because no american hospital will match the job description that got the nurse to america in the first place. many are being laid off by a certain rehab staffing agency based in the se united states. i have over 70 nurses stuck in the philippines. i do not now believe that we will be seeing any of them during obama's first administration. visa retrogression is going to stick around as long as this economy is weak. why? becuase foreign educated nurses coming to america is not a big priority of this administation. when the economy is fixed they will look at it. but in the meantime, america nurses that need jobs will, and should get, first priority. as for my foreign nurses, we fully expect to have to renew all visascreen that we paid for and have a 5-year life. i knew that i should have sold my agency in early 2005 when i had a pretty good offer for it! lol! 5. Silverdragon we are talking about 2 different things. I said "get your license from a compact state." However, I am not saying get a compact license; I am saying get your RN license from a state that happens to be a member of the compact. The compact state that we recommend for licensure is Arkansas. The other state we recommend is Vermont. Which, before you leap, is not a compact state. Again, we are speaking of 2 different licenses. You are speaking of a compact license, I am speaking of a state license. We like those states because they put the actual license in the hands of the nurse after NCLEX passage. Where as California does not. Again, I did not say get a "compact license."
  6. Silverdragon102 you are wrong. In Canada the nurses have to physically be in license to appliy and license, but not the U.S. Hundreds of foreign educated nurses license in the U.S. monthly without ever stepping foot inside this country. Post the references from the California, Minnesota, New Mexico, Vermont or Arkansas BONs foreign nurse application that says what you are putting out. He77 the nurse that this post was origionally about is licensed in California and she is a resident of the Philippines. We have been having licenses issued for hundreds of Filipino nurses for years before they arrived in America. Now they do not get a social security number until they arrive. One state, California will not issue the physical license until the nurse has a SSN.
  7. I am a nurse by training, but I own a staffing company peopled by foreign nurses. We do all the licensure paperwork and the licenses come to us, since we are the employers and paid for them. Our 74, who are a ground in the PI due to visa retrogression, are licensed in 2 states which happen to be compact states. Those states are Vermont and Arkansas. Silverdragon, why don't you concentrate on Canada and UK licensure since you have never been through U.S. licensure. My company has licensed over 600 foreign nurses in America. Match those numbers then start speaking on American licensure.
  8. Wrong. We have 74 compact states licenses for our foreign nurses, none pf whom have ever stepped foot in America.
  9. Just hang on to the California BON's letter. When your license comes through, just send them a copy of your new license. It does not have to come from your BON. Why Califoriia? When you pass NCLEx with Cali BON authorization, you do not get the Cali license until you have a social security number. With visa retrogression, that might not be happening anytime soon. Why not go with a compact state? One license gets you priviledges in 22-states. But more important, you get a physical license. You can adjust status to California is you want. Best compact states to apply for ATT are: Vermont and Arkansas. Cheers!
  10. CIR is not just about fixing illegal immigration. It is also about fixing LEGAL immigration. The article said, "The lead Democrat steering an immigration overhaul through the Senate said Wednesday he expects to have a bill ready by Labor Day that is more generous to highly skilled immigrant workers than those who are lower skilled and is tough on future waves of illegal immigration." Sorry, I thought that the group here knew that Schumer was a passionate opponet to visa retrogression and commonly referred to nurses as professionals. Next time I will post a qualifying reference.
  11. finally senator chuck schumer (d-ny) is putting the ball in play. http://abcnews.go.com/politics/wirestory?id=8036217
  12. Check also with your hospital Human Resources Department. They should give you a hand.
  13. Again, you are assuming I want to sit for CGFNS. I just want to know where the review centers are in Mexico.

" you assume too much, who said that i wanted to write the cgfns exam? i said, "does anyone know of any cgfns review centers in mexico?" but i will expand the question to, "does anyone know of any cgfns, ielts - other that international house - or nclex review centers in mexico. mexico city, df, monterrey or acupulco would be nice. please, anyone reply by pm - private mail.- to mi! filipe!:typing
