scott & white

U.S.A. Texas

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding Scott & White. Do they only hire new grads into their internship positions? I would LOVE to do an internship; however, the next critical care one is available in January. I just became a licensed RN in Texas in March and I will be moving down there until May. I honestly cannot wait until January to get a job :( I have been trying to apply to other positions on their website that all say minimum/no experience but I am not having any luck and I have no idea why! Any pointers? I am a new grad with no nursing experience; however, I worked as a nurse technician for over a year. I know they have nurse techs in Texas. I figured that would make me more marketable but I guess not!

Redraider, I drove by Chappell Hill yesterday and I feel relieved..lol! Looks like a nice complex. I get to go check it out thoroughly on Monday (after my physical). Thank God it looks like the pics on line, as well as Chappell Creek! So, excited we'll be neighbors!

Bridge85, where did you end up? How about you, garfieldshome?

Yeah, they are nice complexes. I move in next Friday.

Pecan Pointe apartments! I started moving in but I been staying with my family because my furniture wont be delivered until next week.

So I'm guessing everything worked out for you LovelyMo79! Have you taken the NCLEX yet? I took it this morning and according the the trick I passed!!! Don't want to get too excited though, lol.

Update:

so Scott & White never called me :( however, I did get a call from Metroplex in Killeen and landed a job in their progressive care unit. I will also be able to pick up/float to ICU. I'm very excited for this opportunity! :yeah:

Woo-hoo! Congrats! :yeah:

I haven't even graduated yet, Bridge85! Hahahaha! I won't take NCLEX until late July, probably. I graduate on Wednesday, come down there on Thursday..start the following Monday. I won't have my stuff until the 23rd but I'm moving in. Sleeping on a blow-up bed..lol.

Congrats on the NCLEX!! I know you passed!! :)

Gonna be at S&W with you guys, ICU starting June 6th

Got offered the Metroplex progressive care position, but declined it even though it would have been a shorter commute (live in copperas cove). It's basically plain med surge and that is not what I wanted to do.

I'm just happy to have a job! Plus I will get trained in ICU and once they take off my leash and let me loose, I'll be able to pick up in the ICU if I want. Sounds good to me!

Lol, LovelyMo! That's too funny! But hey, looks like you're graduating just in time! Congrats! :grad: And thanks! The NCLEX-RN was a beast but honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I highly recommend the Hurst Review if you have time to take it! It was expensive but well worth the money!!!

I am poor...lol! I have the Kaplan study book the Sauders questions book. My school is making us take ATI (horrible experience..can't even talk about it) to fulfill graduation requirements so we'll see where I land!

OH!! And Bridge85, I also found out that the BON has everything it needs from me...except the stupid affidavit!! So, that should be going out on Monday! Hopefully, I'll have my GN permit 2 weeks later! :D

Lol! I know, me too. I spent over $600 dollars to attend the live Hurst review and book my hotel in Austin :( But all the graduation money helps, lol. And yeah, that ATI was crazy. My school required us to make a 97% in order to graduate. I studied a lot with ATI and did a lot of their practice quizzes to study for the NCLEX.

And that's great! Once your school sends off your affidavit, you're supposed to have your ATT within 10 days. I got my ATT three days after graduation. The entire process after graduation goes surprisingly quick!

I wonder how the HESI compares to the ATI? We had to take the HESI at my school.

And it took *2* months for the board to send me my ATT. The reason was because since I was out of state at the time, I had to send in traditional ink fingerprints and they were messed up the first time...and it takes about 4 weeks to process them, I guess. They wouldn't send my ATT until I sent in readable prints and submitted to a background check...it was terrible!

Scott and white will reimburse you for the Hurst review :)
