  1. Awesome! Thanks for letting me know!
  2. Lol! I know, me too. I spent over $600 dollars to attend the live Hurst review and book my hotel in Austin But all the graduation money helps, lol. And yeah, that ATI was crazy. My school required us to make a 97% in order to graduate. I studied a lot with ATI and did a lot of their practice quizzes to study for the NCLEX. And that's great! Once your school sends off your affidavit, you're supposed to have your ATT within 10 days. I got my ATT three days after graduation. The entire process after graduation goes surprisingly quick!
  3. Lol, LovelyMo! That's too funny! But hey, looks like you're graduating just in time! Congrats! :grad: And thanks! The NCLEX-RN was a beast but honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I highly recommend the Hurst Review if you have time to take it! It was expensive but well worth the money!!!
  4. Woo-hoo! Congrats!
  5. Pecan Pointe apartments! I started moving in but I been staying with my family because my furniture wont be delivered until next week. So I'm guessing everything worked out for you LovelyMo79! Have you taken the NCLEX yet? I took it this morning and according the the trick I passed!!! Don't want to get too excited though, lol.
  6. Hi Bornthisway, I know it's hard but try not to get discouraged. I felt the same way you do and just like that things turned around for me. I went from absolutely not call backs to five interviews and four job offers in a week! I suggest applying to at least 10 to 15 jobs everyday and expanding the locations you are willing to work in. I live in Texas and I would have loved to work in Dallas but not one hospital called me back from that area. I ended up taking a job in Temple...not a place I would have chosen originally but I am super excited now! Good luck and hang in there! You will find a job soon!!!
  7. Lol, enjoy it! And I think I'll be happy pretty much anywhere as long as they don't have bugs...of any type. I don't do bugs! Lol!
  8. Redraider1977, when do you start orientation?! I start on June 20th!
  9. I think there is some kind of way to check if you have everything in because our department head was able to check supposedly. I don't know how to do it. Chappell Hill was actually one of my top picks originally but they said they wouldn't have any one bedrooms available until July or August...can't wait that long. And I was so impressed by Pecan Pointe that I didn't even look at Chappell Creek. Oh well! It wasn't meant to be for me I guess. I think I'll be pretty happy at Pecan Pointe though...hopefully! :)
  10. No problem! You can also register with the Texas Board of Nursing (another $139... yeah, I know lol) and go ahead and get the Jurisprudence Exam (easy!) out of the way as well if you want to speed things along! Lol! I'm not too excited about moving to Temple either but I am happy to have a job at such a reputable hospital. I'm originally from the DFW area and I was really hoping to get a job in Dallas. Oh well! I went to Temple last weekend and found an apartment...Pecan Pointe is $710 a month. I'm excited because it's a gorgeous complex and it got pretty good ratings on apartmentratings.com (this is my go to site!) I'm having my lease faxed over tomorrow!!! What about you? Found a place yet?
  11. As far as I know I have completed everything and am ready for graduation!!! Have you registered for the NCLEX with Pearson Vue yet? Our nursing department head is sending our Affadavits for graduation tomorrow morning and shes says according to a staff member at the Board of Nursing, if we have registered for the NCLEX-RN (paid our $200) before the affadavits are sent, our GN permits should be posted online within 10 business days". However, if the affadivit is sent before a student registers for the NCLEX, the students file will be placed in a holding pattern and will not be reviewed for 30 days. Hope that helps...it's all very confusing to me. I'm hoping everything works out well for you Lovelymo79! See you in orientation and good luck with your remaining class!
  12. Aww, thank you Rolliepolee! S&W does only allow you to have three applications under the status of "applied", however, once your application shows "route" you can apply for another position. Hope that helps! Good luck and let us know how things go!!!!
  13. Our instructor had us complete all of the requirements to take the NCLEX about a month ago so that we would be eligible to take the NCLEX as soon as possible. From my understanding, I should have my ATT a week or 2 after graduation (May 14th!!!) and my GN permit by the end of May/early June. Hopefully! After receiving my ATT, I can schedule a time and place to take my exam, I'm hoping I won't have to wait to long to sit for the exam. You should submit your application ASAP!! I submitted my application for the job I got on March 31th and I had my interview on April 21th...got the job on the spot and I start orientation June 20th! They seemed more concerned about my GN permit...since I will most likely begin orientation before sitting for the NCLEX. I can work under my GN permit until I take the boards (1st time) and if god forbid I don't pass, I will work as a patient care tech. My advice is to apply to jobs that were posted a while back, not just the jobs that were posted within the last couple of days. The job I snagged was posted in December of 2010! My guess is there wasn't too many applicants applying for that position. I know it's nerve racking but hang in there. I went from no job prospects to four job offers in 2 weeks. Think positive and count on things working out. Good luck!
  14. Hi Rolliepolee...cute name by the way :) I loved the atmosphere and the people at the hospital better at Tyler, when compared to my experience in Temple. I am from the city (Dallas, TX) and Tyler seemed more city-like, even though Tyler is still a very rural area. There was a little "traffic" on my way to do my drug screening and I was strangely excited. Tyler is also closer to my family... That being said, I actually changed my mind and ultimately decided to go with Scott & White after all! I had already accepted the job at Trinity Mother Frances and had to call back and decline the offer. After talking with my family, classmates and clinical instructors I felt like Scott & White in Temple was the better place to begin my nursing career. My ultimate goal is to work in Parkland Hospitals ER and I think Scott & White will better prepare me to do so. I secretly wish Scott & White was in Tyler, TX instead of Temple though Tyler felt more like home but I'm sure Temple will grow on me. I'm going to Temple this weekend to find an apartment!
  15. Thanks! But I actually decided to go for the other job in Tyler just because I fell in love with the area The job pays significantly lower than S&W but I'm stoked that I don't have to move to Temple, lol. The job I was offered (Staff Nurse- 7 North Med-Surg (nights)) position should be opening back up pretty soon. One of you might want to try and snag that one up cause they seemed pretty eager to get someone hired! Good luck everyone!!! Oh, and I think you had to set up the job status alert when you first applied for the job. It gave an option to create a log in with a user name and password, which allows you to log back in to check the status of your application.
