our uniforms are ok....you can choose from white or navy blue pants and a white or navy blue shirt. you must mix them as you cannot have all white or all blue on for clinical. the only draw back is that the shirt is button up (snaps) and the pockets are not very big. try cramming that extra note pad and pen and cheat sheet around and it just looks sloppy. i keep waiting for a patient to grab my shirt for support and the snaps coming open!

on the bright side....no skirts or caps!

i agree about not having enough room to put items in the pockets.

When I was in LPN school we had a private joke going about how you could tell there was a student in the room. We all put our "junk" in our lab coat pockets but we couldn't work with them on so we would hang them on the door knob. If you went past the room and there was a white coat hanging on the door knob, there was a student inside.

I just purchased my uniforms today, and actually, compared to what some people have to wear I think ours are pretty good. Green scrubs with school patch attached to the left sleeve, as well as a green scrub jacket. They actually look pretty good. Better than the ALL white that the class from last year had to wear. Good luck to everyone in school :)

Goodness how things have changed.

"In my day...

We had a blue pinafore, white button shirt underneath, a slip, white hose and white shoes, and our cap. 1st semester students just had the school logo patch onthe cap, 2nd semester got a vertical grayish blue stripe on the left edge of the cap.

We were assigned lockers, had to change at the school, and were not allowed to wear our uniforms outside of the school or hospital

Any other Shapero grads around??:nurse:

I'm not sure what our uniforms will look like...I won't know until we have orientation next month. I did call the uniform company to find out if they sell maternity uniforms. And the lady laughed and said, "Yes, we do. We've outfitted many pregnant nursing students."....Boy was I glad to hear that.

fatima, how are you and the baby doing?
I do think that the nursing programs across this country are going to have to start catering to the men also. Each year there are more and more men entering this field, with many more to come in the near future.

You are so right. These people need to get with the program! It may seem like a minor point to them, but if they are concerned about recruitment, they better start taking this seriously. I appreciate your pep-talk with Mr. Peeps! :)

Our uniforms are: Navy blue scrub top with white piping with white uniform pants (both men and women), purchased through the bookstore. Women have the option to wear a knee-length white skirt. A white t-shirt can be worn under the scrub top if the collar is round-necked and white, and for warmth a white turtleneck can be worn under the top or we can wear a white washable sweater.

I'm not thrilled about wearing white pants because I'm a hippy-chick ;) and white pants make me look huge. But I guess it could be worse....

All Right, a hippy chick, my favorite kind! Thanks for the encouragement Figaro's Mom. You mentioned that the ladies have a choice to wear skirts. Well, I'm here to let you in on a little secret. Men love women who wear skirts, or at least I do. I think it's so sexy (in a good way), and looks very professional. I also absolutely adore women in glasses. It just accents their eyes, and really adds to their apperarence. I'm getting a little off topic, so I'd better watch my manners. Anyway you guys take care and I'll catch up to you soon. See ya'. I'm OUT. Darby:)

The baby and I are doing great...I'm 14 wks. and 6 dys. The morning sickness has went away, which I didn't have a lot of to begin with...thank goodness...lol. I did have an appt. this past Sat. and I lost 5 pds. My OB/GYN just looked at me and said, "Now you know you can't lose weight....try and gain it back".....lol....I'll try....

our uniforms are not exactly stylish, but not too terrible. Right now for our CNA clinicals they've got us in plain white scrubs. For the ADN clinicals it's still white pants and top, but the top is a zippered affair with the school patch on the sleeve and blue trim. It also has a lot of pockets, so at least it's practical. This uniform has to be special ordered.

fatima, i am glad you and the baby are doing well. take care!

White button-up top with a "princess neckline" and elastic waist white scrub pants. Both pieces made out of some comepletely manmade fabric and of course- see through! Better stock up ojn white granny panties I guess. They didn't look as bad as I thought they would when I tried them on though.

We have to wear all white nursing shoes or tennis shoes, no clogs allowed.
