i received my uniforms today. actually, they are not bad looking at all. i purchased a dress and pants set, as the dress uniform was required. have you purchased your uniforms and how do they look?

hey are men reguired to purchase a dress uniform? of course not this is a form of discrimination in my view lets let the male nurses dress one way female nurses another. i think schools should let us decide which type of uniform to wear personally i will never wear that dress uniform to work after school it just isn't practical in my opinion. my school reguires very expensive white uniforms so not 2002! these schools need to get with reality and stop this attitude. wonder how long before someone files a lawsuit of gender bias.

When I was in LPN school we ALL had to wear white bottom and PINK button down shirt. The 4 men in my class where NOT happy about the pink. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse our graduation uniform was a white dress, white hose, and caps. The men had white pants and white shirt with black belt and white shoes, they looked like the Good Humor Man!! It was awful. In my ADN program we all had burgandy pants and white smocks with grey trim. (barf). The men looked AWFUL- their smocks zipped all the way from neck to hem. They looked like the vet or a pharmacy tech. I think the uniform industry needs to wake up to the number of men in nursing school now and come up with somethin that looks good on them.

I'm not sure what kind of uniforms we will have yet, but I'll find out this coming Wednesday. The class from last year had some nice looking knit shirts with a collar, that were in a unisex style, and were a teal green color. The pants were basic white and looked pretty neat also. We have to purchase our uniforms from the same store, so we will all have the same type of uniforms. I don't like this idea, but I'll have to go along with the program. We are responsible for finding our own shoes, which seems to be a simple task, unless you're a man like myself. We have very limited resources for nursing type shoes, or at least anything I would want to wear (I'm very particular about my shoes and boots!). I've got a pair of K-Swiss atheletic shoes that I bought for my CNA clinicals a few years ago, but I'm going to try and find something that I like better (Wish me luck!) I do think that the nursing programs across this country are going to have to start catering to the men also. Each year there are more and more men entering this field, with many more to come in the near future. I'm just glad that I got into the program this time around, because there's a lot of people taking their prerequisites right now and will be trying for the program next time around. I hope my uniforms aren't some kind of sissy color:rolleyes: If it were my choice, I might choose a camouflage pattern, preferably the Advantage Timber:D . I don't fit the mold of your "typical" nurse, if you guys haven't noticed. Take care guys. I'm OUT. Darby

I've read so many uniform horror stories, I'm nervous. I have orientation Aug 9 so I guess I will find out then.

Sorry.............I am getting tired and this visual just struck a funny bone.

As for our school uniforms, I was told by ny friend in her last year...we too have to purchase them from one place. Not too bad looking, from what I've been told. Won't know for sure until next year, as I am doing prereqs first year.

We just wear navy blue scrub pants and a white scrub top, with the school patch on the left sleeve. The only difference between the mens and womens is that the womans shirt has a different collar.

Our uniforms are Ok....you can choose from white or navy blue pants and a white or navy blue shirt. You must mix them as you cannot have all white or all blue on for clinical. The only draw back is that the shirt is button up (SNAPS) and the pockets are not very big. Try cramming that extra note pad and pen and cheat sheet around and it just looks sloppy. I keep waiting for a patient to grab my shirt for support and the snaps coming open!

On the bright side....no skirts or caps!

My lab partner is starting clinicals this fall and she said that our school's uniforms aren't too bad.

They consist of a blue scrub top and white scrub bottoms and a white lab coat. You have to buy the blue scrub top from the Student Store but if you don't like the white bottoms they have you can find them else where. I think she said the bottoms were pretty ugly, that nice "I can see your underpants" material that so many white scrubs are made of.

You also have to purchase a "patch" with the school name on it. You are not allowed to sew it, only the manufacturer of the shirt is allowed to do it. I think she said that the cost of the patch was more expensive than the whole uniform put together!

We have had to purchase our clinical uniforms from a specified shop and I am sure the instructor is getting some kinda kick back...theuniforms are made by landu ??? I have the catalog and odrer them and I was pissed I was charged more for them going thru the shop than purchasing them on line. The shop owner was a witch and she made my friend cry because she made fun of her weight.... she said I will have to charge you extra since you are sooooo big ....I guess your the fatty of the class.... I nearly took her head off.......any way our uniforms are navy blue and those damned little patches..... I told the lady I could sew but she told me that her shop had to attach them.... I told her to bite me and made her give me the patches....GOD that was a horrific experience..... I told our instructor of the nightmare and she told me she has had bad reprts and that she was going to change the vendor .... I hope so..

what a cruel thing to say about someone size. my, you would thinks she would care enough about her business if not another's person feelings. good for your instructor.
