What is everyone cooking for Thanksgiving?

We were lucky enough to get invited to a friend's house this year, so I am making my Jiffy Corn Casserole, a French chocolate silk pie, and a chocolate pecan pie. I always love hearing what everyone else is making, or if they are going out. We actually had reservations for a full spread at a local restaurant this year because we are travelling to the West Coast this weekend and I knew I would be too tired to come home from that and shop and cook a full spread. Our lovely friends are alone and the husband loves to cook for a crowd so he called us and invited us.

Haven't done much with extended family these past few years as the nuclear family went nuclear over my mother's rewriting her will a couple years ago. Family are circling like vulture to get their piece of the estate and she's not even dead yet!

Yikes. I'm sorry your family is experiencing that.

We actually hosted a larger friednsgiving this past weekend with Turkey, stuffing/dressing, all all of the other fixings.

We rotate familes for holiday, so this year we are with my mom. We make our own wine and beer, and the Mr just finished bottling some of both so we are bringing that up with us. My mom also is famous for saying she doesn't need help, but I always end up making most of the sides once we get into town so that way she can play with the tiny and catch up with the other relatives.

I go to my mom's early and help her cook. the norm for us: turkey, mashies, stuffing, roasted butternut squash, cranberry sauce a'la can, corn, rolls. Food coma. I finally talked my mom into using paper plates last year instead of the "good plates" It's worth the cost to me to not have to do dishes on top of cooking all day with her.

Turkey, Sweet Potatoes, Scallopped Oysters, Cranberry Sauce (both homemade and canned to accomodate everybody's "taste"), a few pies,...

In the last few years that my grandmother was alive, we convinced her to go with paper plates. She would end up speeding through her meal and then watching us and trying to take our plates as soon as she thought we might be done (hold up, Grandma! I'm having thirds!). She just wanted to get the table cleared and things washed. As an adult now, I realize that it was probably rooted in anxiety and that I do the same thing when my kids and I sit down to dinner. I try not to...

I am hosting, only 10 people, so not too bad. We are having: WINE (my parents will be coming!), turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, homemade stuffing, (Maybe another vegetable...still debating), cranberry sauce (from a can, I love that stuff!), homemade gravy, dinner rolls (the only thing my son will eat), and several pies! I will probably make a cheese and cracker plate to start with while everyone is coming in, and the caramel apple sangria!!

I always drink wine when my mom is with me...

I'm not the best cook but I LOVE Thanksgiving and I have enjoyed reading all your food plans!

This year, my husband and I are hosting my family at our apartment for lunch and then going to our in laws' for dinner. My dad will bring a huge turkey for lunch. No prep; he just wakes up early and cooks it in salted butter while basting it very frequently and even though I don't even like butter, it makes for the most amazing turkey ever!!

I am going to make all the easy sides: canned corn, cranberry sauce, gravy, biscuits, stuffing, etc. We always have dill pickles with our turkey, too! My garlic mashed potatoes are from scratch and are the bomb! I might try to make a pie for both dinners or maybe try to fashion some kind of cranberry thumbprint cookie to bring to my in laws' too. We will serve wine and I am also going to make a cranberry orange ginger mocktail for myself since I'm pregnant :inlove:

Can't wait. Thanksgiving is my favorite! I love all the flavors and the happy time spent with family just appreciating what we have. Hope you all have a happy and nourishing holiday. I am thankful for this forum and for all of you

My folks are up from GA for the holiday and my mom is doing the heavy cooking but asked me to bring a dessert. I'm making a dairy free banana cream pie (trying to cut as much dairy from my diet as possible lately so we will see how that pie comes out!)

Mr. Tomato is making cornbread stuffing and my sister is making lots and lots of cocktails. All the food groups covered :)

I'll be making Turkey, my mom's stuffing (with an extra pan of it), butternut squash, cauliflower, carrots green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, rolls, and maybe gravy (I don't really like gravy).

Then house pets will have gizzards, horses will have a bran mash with the peels from the carrots and apples with apple oatmeal, bran, molasses, and a pinch of cinnamon

For dessert: brownies, pumpkin pie, apple pie, banana cream pie, and strawberry shortcake.

Then we'll sit watch some movies and eat all over again.

LOL, mine wont even eat that! It is either pizza (ONLY from a certain pizza place) or maybe a hot dog! Picky kid! He is 12, waiting for that growth spurt when he all of sudden gets hungry and wants to eat!

Be careful what you wish for my son is 15 and a high school athlete - He eats like it's an Olympic event. I can barely keep food in the house!

Hppy

My hopes and dreams...

Just kidding: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie. The usual Thanksgiving foods.

This is the first year in a long time that I won't be going home to my family (I'm flying home for Christmas). This year I'm spending Thanksgiving with friends and we are having a party. Italian food and a TON of wine. I'm not a fan of traditional Thanksgiving food (my parents aren't either- they grill or make mexican food) but I do love being with family and friends during the holidays. I'll have four days off, starting Turkey day and I'm just thrilled.

Now, my soul cycle instructor won't be pleased at how many pounds of pasta I plan on consuming (nor how much gelato and torta caprese) but who's going to tell her?!
