What is everyone cooking for Thanksgiving?

Published

We were lucky enough to get invited to a friend's house this year, so I am making my Jiffy Corn Casserole, a French chocolate silk pie, and a chocolate pecan pie. I always love hearing what everyone else is making, or if they are going out. We actually had reservations for a full spread at a local restaurant this year because we are travelling to the West Coast this weekend and I knew I would be too tired to come home from that and shop and cook a full spread. Our lovely friends are alone and the husband loves to cook for a crowd so he called us and invited us.

Our special ed classroom made a Thanksgiving Feast today and invited the clinic staff! It was more a brunch than traditional food but I have a giant plate of scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausage covered in homemade salsa that's hotter than the hinges of H-E-Doublehockeysticks. It's greatness!!

On my sub day I invited two families who are new to the US, it will be interesting to see what happens and what they think of the holiday.

I have been doing all of the cooking since my grandmother passed away a 7 years ago. I am going to make a traditional turkey with homemade sausage stuffing, cider-brine Cornish hens with apple, pecan, cranberry, & sausage stuffing, brown sugar glazed turkey hams, kale & mustard greens, seafood mac and cheese, potato salad, mac & tuna salad, lasagna, baked yams, sweet potato & pumpkin pie, red velvet cheesecake cake, carrot cheesecake cake, hummingbird cake, chocolate cake, and deviled eggs with lump crab meat. It's alot but I give 2 or 3 trays away to my friends who have no family left that cooks for the holiday. I am so excited to get in the kitchen lol
