I joke about this all the time with the small stuff I take care of in my office, but literally, this time, "Another life saved." Great job, Nurse Patti!!!

GOOD FOR HER!!!
My name is Patti! Wonder if it will rub off?
There is stuff all of us have "caught", suggested a parent follow up with a doc. I love/hate when I'm right.

Agreed - but the thing I hate more is when I have that nagging feeling something is up, alert the parent and get radio silence in return. Not even a "I'll mention it the next time we're there" type thing. I wish in some cases we would call the docs directly without a bunch of paperwork and without catching hell.
Had one yesterday...kid has a litany of issues. EVerytime they get pushed on attendance, mom starts calling Dr Google and in conversation yesterday mentions kid said s/he wanted to die cause s/he feels awful...kid is >18
SAY WHAT????
I immediatly encouraged her to call PCP to push up appt sched for today. I got her the name and contact info of several psychiatrists (I really think that is what she needs).
Mom then says I'm sure s/he doesnt mean it...
I followed up with an email a with several people copied to have digitial proof that I addressed the situation.
Nothing to day other than s/he wont be in (again) becuase s/he does not feel well.
Argghh!

This is awesome, but am I the only one who thought pupil was referring to the kid's eye? I thought the nurse spotted something in his eye that led to a leukemia diagnosis and was really curious what that was...
I am a moron.
