Scheduled my exam! Any one else testing next week? (July 7th)

Published

I graduated on May 12th and it's been a LONG wait for the state to finally issue authorization to test with Pearson. July 7th at 8 AM is the big day.

Our nursing program gave each graduating nurse a scholarship "gift" of the Kaplan 4-day NCLEX prep. I've been doing practice Q-Bank questions nearly every day. So far, I'm doing pretty well on the trainers & Q-Banks. I simply cannot wait to get this over & done with. I have a job lined up and I cannot start until I pass the NCLEX, per their policy.

Anyone else taking their exam next week?

Congrats dear RN!!! Yayyyyy !!!! I so cannot wait to celebrate like you guys.

Would you recommend doing questions by client categories? Or include all of them? I'm using Kaplan as well.

I always did a random selection of all available questions that I had not yet answered, so it would feel more like the actual test.

Thanks for the well wishes. I appreciate that! Best of luck on your NCLEX :)

I was able to get hired in to the nurse residency program at the hospital where I had my clinicals. Just waiting for my license # so I can start. If the BON updates my info with my license # before the 22nd, I'll be able to start on July 27th. I'll be in a critical care unit, which was my favorite unit in clinicals. I *loved* the nurses on that unit, they were wonderful! After I work in critical care for 2 years, I can get in to the ER fellowship program. The hospital is a level 1 trauma center and my goal is to be an ER nurse there. Very exciting!!! Plus, I'll start my BSN classes in January.

This is where I was aiming, but I have to change my plans and stick with the home health for a couple of years. I am starting my BSN in a month, and I need more flexibility, so I could attend lectures (as a few of the times a year, I have to show up in class: even though the whole course is mostly online). I need more flexibility, so I could take care of the family. ICU schedule would be strict and overwhelming for me now. But I might still change my mind :)

Willow,

I have been working in home health as administrative assistant and then, coordinator, and got to know the industry a bit. I really wanted to start with the hospital, but after discussing options with my family, it seems that more flexible schedule will work best for all of us for now. I think once I am done with BSN in 1.5 -2 years, I can still do residency program ;) I will be a new BSN Grad? Not sure....

Yes! Most definitely. I did 75 Qbanks per day (6 days a week) for 3 weeks. Took 5 days off for vacation. And then back to 75 questions per day for a week and a half before I took the exam. I think the key is remediating each question, whether you had it right or wrong. I also like how they show you how many answers you changed and whether you went from incorrect to correct or vice-versa. At the beginning, I had quite a few that were right and I second-guessed myself and changed it. It got me to trust my gut instinct :)

Good luck! :D

I enjoyed this course. It gave me confidence. And I swear at NCLEX I changed my answers 3 or 4 times, because I told myself: tree. think tree! And my computer shut off at 75. So, I guess tree helped me to get back onto good spree of answers?

Congrats on your job Soprano, that's AMAZING! I'll also be starting on a critical care unit.

Zee, I went the nurse residency route as well. I applied to some non-residencies as well, but ended up accepting the residency position that was offered to me because it was the unit I wanted, and residencies also generally offer a longer orientation/more support for new graduates. Here's two links that I found helpful when trying to figure out where to apply:

I have checked out the links, and it does seem I have to have BSN before applying there:) Thank you for sharing the link :)

I wanted to make sure to come back here and update.. It's official!!! I'm an RN!!! I found out yesterday.. This thread was so uplifting, and just amazing to "go through" NCLEX with others!!!

god bless you all and congrats to US!!!

Congrats! RN!!!!! I am so happy that all of us made it thru together!

It's an amazing feeling!!!!! We made it!!!

You're in the home stretch! I personally felt Kaplan was more difficult than NCLEX. If you're scoring well on Kaplan, have every confidence that you're well prepared. Good luck on Tuesday! We'll be here cheering you on :D

Thank you so much! That means a lot too me. I am really trying to go in there with confidence. All of your stories on here are inspiring. I will keep you all updated!

I passed !!!

Congrats, Miss Nurse! I am ecstatic for you :)

I wish the best of luck to all people who will be taking their exams soon
