saunders 3rd edition vs 4th edition??

Hello everyone!

I have a question for you about the Saunders NCLEX-RN review book. I used the third edition to study for test during nursing school, and I absolutely loved it! I noticed on more than one occasion there were questions directly from the book on our tests! Well now that I'm officially done nursing school (pinning was yesterday ) it's time to begin studying for the NCLEX. I see Saunders now has a 4th edition, but I was wondering if they just changed around a few of the questions and if it's not worth buying? Or if with each new edition they update everything completely?

i took my first nclex last march.. failed it..

and im retaking probably on june or july..

got me up to 265! damn that anxiety attack!

hi! POsh. do you plan to take a review course? I'll be attending mine at URC and it's only a final coaching program and don't really used to attend review courses coz I can't stand waiting for long hours of listening taht's why I took the final coaching.good luck..:wink2:

Hi! Ma'am suzanne. But does it mean I have to buy the 4th edition and read all over again. But if it does what you suggest, I'm more willing to follow it. My question is, do I have to re schedule my exam so as to finish the book? thanks and more power:)

If you are spending so much money on an exam, would you not want the best chance of passing it the first time? And this is even more important if you are an international graduate.

New format questions are in the 4th edition, and this is what you will be seeing on your exam.

There is no place in that first tip that tells you to read the book, suggest that you reread the first tip once again.

Hi! I was reading over this thread and am thankful to be taught that each edition is updated per the exam. I have a copy of the 2nd edition and will now try to get my hands on the 4th. My question is this - as I have been flipping through my edition, it seems that most of the questions are really easy. Like three of four answers are pretty obviously not correct - for the most part, that is. Do these Saunders books really hold true to the exam? I'm hoping so!! I'm doing great so far!!

I bought 3rd edition of saunders comprehensive. 4th edition is always out of stock i didnt know that there's a big difference if i knew it i wouldnt buy the 3rd edition printed in 2005.. Do i really need to buy 4th edition so i can have SUZANNE'S PLAN??? pls help!

Just thought I would weigh in because I just ordered the 4th ed. when I found out that it did have the new format questions. I am very frugal and got through school with a 3.5gpa on all used books, many older editions but NCLEX isn't something I'm willing to fiddle around with especially since the book isn't that expensive and will be relisted on Amazon the day before I sit for the boards. Well, my exam is a week away and I have already completed the 3rd edition. I currently am working through the Kaplan trainer pratice exams. Can anyone suggest if I am too late to purchase the 4th edition of Saunders or should I reschedule?

sorry i wasnt able to check my account for weeks.. no.. i wont attend review classes anymore.. im done with those during my first take.. are you done with the exam? me, not yet.. probably august.. you?
