Just wanted to start a thread for the Fall 2011 SJC applicants to the ADN Program. I am eagerly awaiting the application period. Have any of you applied to other schools nearby?
~Heather
All of the letters for the Fall 2011 class have been sent. If you have not received a letter, please contact me at [email protected]. I know this has been a frustrating and long wait and I apologize. We had a large number of applicants and we have chosen to offer spots to only 90 students rather than 120 based on the applicant pool. In response to some of the thoughts and questions, yes I had to call each and every student to ensure you received your email (I appreciated the offer to help move the process faster ). Also, I kept students in alphabetical order to assist with all of the information we input from your applications, I did not mean to torment the poor people with last names starting with "W" because I know what it is like. I would like to congratulate all of the students that have made it into the program. For those of you that did not, you may contact me and I will be happy to discuss the committee's notes regarding your application.
Next week, we will start posting pointers for immunizations and the physical as I know that is the next stressful part.
Take care,

wow, so I am assuming that since only 90 students were picked instead of 120 because of the applicant pool, that means there really werent enough people who surpassed the minimum requirements???
I guess that also means that there will be no alternates chosen for the spots that are declined?
We had 340 applicants. We did not accept any students on probation this session. Also, there will not be any alternate spots offered this session. Each application period varies depending on numerous factors, this session we chose to accept fewer students. In the Spring, we may accept a larger group.
Now that everyone has been informed of their status with the ADN Program, allow me to reintroduce myself...as the Immunization/Fun Police Chief

PLEASE NOTE: As long as the series is in process, you are fine. We DO NOT require all of these immunizations to be completed by your first day of school. Some will take months to complete.
Ultimately, what we need are the titers. If your physician will allow you to get the titer without first going through the series, great! However, most physicians won't allow you to do so.
The sooner you start on these - the better.
Thank you and congratulations,

I did my titers, and get the results tomorrow. To be clear we need either the twinrix or hep a and b right? I'm so happy we all know now, good luck in the program everyone, and congrats to the ones that got there email today! We are going to be spending a lot of time together from here on out!
My titers results aren't back yet but I've got my tetorifice shot and TB test done. Almost done with my checklist. I am just nervous about my schedule conflicting with work. Idk about you guys but I'm working to pay for school and bills and the job I have now I can't just quit! So hopefully all will be Ok

CORRECT! Either the TWINRIX -or- Hep A & Hep B, separately.
For those needing to get CPR certified. There's a girl in clear lake that does AHA certified classes every Tuesday for 45. She's super nice and friendly. If anyone wants the info you can message me,I don't want to get on trouble for advertising or something. I just know getting quotes were expensive!
rhood, can you give me her addresss n phone number so i can take her class? Thanks a lot
I found an AHA BLS CPR class as well for 45, and they offer the class very frequently. I have already signed up for one but am curious about the timing for friday morning? xoxomishelle: what time, and how long is the class? I will probably stick to my time next week as it is already paid for (and the last thing for my nursing checklist) but just curious.how far along is everyone else on the checklist? shots, physicals, and CPR all done, or close to it?
nrsingstudent where did u sign up for CPR class? Would you like to give me more info about it?
