Just wanted to start a thread for the Fall 2011 SJC applicants to the ADN Program. I am eagerly awaiting the application period. Have any of you applied to other schools nearby?

do we need just a regular 4x6 photo?? i'm assuming a plain background and taken from about the waist up?? or do we have to go get passport photos from walgreens or something like that??
I don't know how much my titers are going to cost, I billed the whole thing to my insurance, and now I'm waiting on the bill. I went to my family physican that I always see he did everthing at one time. I'm not sure about the photo, to be safe id get a recent one,it only take seconds to take and print at walgreens.
Happy Tuesday! How is everyone doing with their checklist?
does anyone know when we are supposed to get our schedules?
I guess my checklist is moving ok... Unfortunately, I don't have any records of my immunizations... lost them all a while back . So, I'm working with my physician to get my shots taken care of. I already got my tetorifice, and go back tomorrow for them to read the TB skin test, which I've taken before so I already know it's negative :) ... by the way, anyone who has never done a TB skin test before, make sure you don't put lotion on it or scratch it, or irritate it in any way... you could end up having a false positive reading.
I did my CPR class... it was fun and I opted out of buying the book. The people who bought books didn't even open theirs. It was 3 hours long & I feel like I really learned a lot from it. We had a test at the end of the class, but as long as you were paying attention, it was easy.
What about you Rhood? Did you find out about the schedules??
Hey mischelle!
I turned in all my stuff
no word on schedule.
Its just frustrating. I can't even imagine people who have kids trying to do this program!
I heard there's a 50% chance the schedules will be done by orientation.
But who knows.
Nursing dept says to think your classes will be in the time block of 9-5
I've been applying to jobs for the evening in case my schedule does happen to conflict with my current work schedule which is an afternoon job getting off at 6 which has been perfect in the past for study time. but nothing pays enough to actually pay for school or have time to study!
If anyone can give me insight as to what to do I would appreciate it.
rhood... what kind of work do you do?? I used to have a part-time job at a hospital working in the E.R. business office, so it was pretty easy to change up my shifts since it was open 24hrs, plus I learned a little bit about the medical field :)
You should let them know that you're in nursing school... some medical employers will pay for your school (but I think you have to sign a contract with them).
Some other ideas... personal trainer or aerobics instructor... Gym daycares... In-home caregiver for the elderly ( I worked for a place called Girling Healthcare... I pretty much made up my own hours...It's sort of like babysitting for adults).
GOOD LUCK!!!
