San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2011

Just wanted to start a thread for the Fall 2011 SJC applicants to the ADN Program. I am eagerly awaiting the application period. Have any of you applied to other schools nearby?

Can anyone help me decide whether or not I need to retake some classes before applying for the Fall 2012 program? I have a cumulative GPA of 2.85, prerequisite GPA of 3.2 and made an 88 on the HESI. Does anyone know the point cutoff or if these are good enough to get in if I apply?

It's really hard to say if your GPA will be good enough... They used to not accept anyone with a GPA of less than 3.5... but this semester I heard of a couple people getting in with GPA's less than 3.0. I think it just depends on the applicant pool during the time you apply, and how many spots they have available. Either way, I think you have a decent chance with pre-req gpa of 3.2 & your HESI... you should go for it! :)

I took A&P 6 years ago and ended up failing it can anybody tell me if this will still effect the point system in getting into san jac nursing program or has it been long enough to where it wont count against me any kind of feed back would be greatly apprecitated thanks!! :)

i think you should talk directly to the nursing department about this one... sorry i couldn't help more... good luck!

I am about to start the spring semester of the nursing program. Being a new student and seeing the list of books we are required to buy, i was wondering if anyone bought all of the required books at the same time or did you just buy them as you went. I can't afford to buy them all at the same time especially with no financial aid money in yet. Feel free to share with me the experiences you faced with the books and what you really needed your first week of school :) thank you.

I was so upset when i found out the cost of all the books we needed! You will def need all of them, with the exception of the ones listed as recommended (they're helpful but if you really want you can buy them later in the semester). the Med-surg book can hold off til second 8weeks. you def need Health assessment book and the book for foundations... if you don't buy those right away you'll get behind on studying. Talk to your instructors... they sometimes have extras from previous students losing them or donating them. ALWAYS write down the things they repeat or say extra slow... cuz it's prob on the test. GOOD LUCK!

Hi Kelkel,

The last I heard, our sciences cannot be more than 5yrs old. Since you need AP as a pre-req I would assume you have to re-take it! Ask a counselor!
