Just wanted to start a thread for the Fall 2011 SJC applicants to the ADN Program. I am eagerly awaiting the application period. Have any of you applied to other schools nearby?

I for one being middle matured will be very committed and flexible. I am very blessed to now have adult children. However, being older does concern me. As Toby K would say: "I ain't as good as I once was but, I'm as good once as I ever was".
So, when they start telling me to jump I'll just make sure its ok for me to ask how high.
Im really excited to start this Spring!!!!

Im glad that you're excited, committed, and flexible but the advice of being "thick skinned" is something to start working on now because asking these professors "how high" might not go over so well in your first semester. They expect you to critically think and figure out how high you should jump on your own...you'll understand when you get there
I am about to start the spring semester of the nursing program. Being a new student and seeing the list of books we are required to buy, i was wondering if anyone bought all of the required books at the same time or did you just buy them as you went. I can't afford to buy them all at the same time especially with no financial aid money in yet. Feel free to share with me the experiences you faced with the books and what you really needed your first week of school :) thank you.
The evolve Admission Assessment study guide for HESI was helpful for me...
Make sure you know all of the vocab... the concept of the math (the problems are mostly word problems on the exam)... know the basics of biology (mostly high school biology, the cell, functions of cell parts, etc.) ... basics of A&P, it's really hard to say what exactly you need to study for, but at least know the main things you discussed during your A&P classes. This study guide was a VERY basic review, but it did help... go over the included quizzes & make sure you know the concept of the question with the answer... don't just try to memorize all the answers and expect them to be exactly the same on the test, cause the exam is NOT like that. Def make sure you fully understand the concepts of all the "HESI Hint" boxes in the book! even tho i studied there were a few questions that I was completely thrown off by, but as long as you know your A&P & Bio you should be fine. The reading part was pretty much the same idea as the study guide, but maybe just a tad bit harder. It's been a while so that's about all i can remember... Try finding free online A&P and Bio exams & flash cards, those helped me too... hope it helps and good luck!!
