Just wanted to start a thread for the Fall 2011 SJC applicants to the ADN Program. I am eagerly awaiting the application period. Have any of you applied to other schools nearby?

thanks rhood!
To everyone still waiting I wouldn't give up. They said not to come to any conclusions until Friday, so that tells me that there is still hope. We have all worked really hard to get to this point, and no one on here should feel like they don't measure up. There is still hope, after all, we all admit we can't figure the process out entirely. Previous semesters letters were being sent out up until orientation, so don't give up hope yet!
To the one's already in, CONGRATULATIONS again. We worked so hard to get here, and the next 2 years shouldn't prove to be easier. Enjoy your last summer, and I will see you all during orientation July 11 and 12.:ancong!:
@ nursemee...what makes you say about them being favorable to some over others?? did you hear something?? how would they know anyone applying sense their building is so far from the science building?
I dont think anything else plays into their decision other than what they ask for. How would they know anything else??? DO you think they waste time researching us any further than whats on that app? maybe THATS whats taking so long (sarcastic)
FYI... 3 people that I know got their letters last night as well. Around 630-7 pm. Two last names started with P and I don't know the 3rd. He is the BF to one of my female friends that got in.
One of my friends had to retake the hesi and she is one of those three that got in. She had a gpa of like 3.7 something i beleive, with As in all her sciences taking full course loads each semester. The other girl was a bit lower, passed hesi first time and all 3 were completing pre-reqs in the spring.
I got in (and declined as stated earlier). My stats were, passed hesi first time:90.68 or so overall. lowest in all sections was an 80 and 86, all others were above 95/96. My gpa at time of app was 3.59 and is now 3.66. I had a B in AP1 and an A in all other sciences. I was working full time and attending school part time taking 2 classes per semester mostly.
When I said before about seeing how you measure up to other people that have posted their grades, I only meant that if you're close or better than the people who have already been accepted then you shouldn't stress so much. When I saw that I had a higher gpa than some, and a higher HESI than some.. I decided to think positively and I called to make an appt for my physical for next week, and I stopped stressing about if my app was going to be "good enuff". I accepted the fact that if I didn't get in this time, then it just wasn't meant to be and I was going to start preparing to apply for Spring. Every single person has a different situation with their grades... some could have lower overall gpa's but have all A's in the required pre-req's... or vice-versa... I guess my point is that there is no way to "figure" out if you're in, so it's not worth it to break your head wondering why you haven't gotten an email. Unfortunately, we're the group that got stuck with something going wrong in the notification process, but there's nothing we can do about it except continue to support eachother... I really, really hope that all of you left wondering get your answer today!!!!
On another note... I found a CPR class in Pearland, it's $50 but its close to me so I guess it evens out by saving the gas $$. They have a class Friday morning, and then the next class after that is July 26th.
For those needing to get CPR certified. There's a girl in clear lake that does AHA certified classes every Tuesday for 45. She's super nice and friendly. If anyone wants the info you can message me,I don't want to get on trouble for advertising or something. I just know getting quotes were expensive!
I found an AHA BLS CPR class as well for 45, and they offer the class very frequently. I have already signed up for one but am curious about the timing for friday morning? xoxomishelle: what time, and how long is the class? I will probably stick to my time next week as it is already paid for (and the last thing for my nursing checklist) but just curious.
how far along is everyone else on the checklist? shots, physicals, and CPR all done, or close to it?
Mrs Warrens post stated that all (rejection and acceptance) will be sent out by Friday. Fridays close and I'm a mess not knowing! She stated that they were having tech difficulties. Since people are getting phone calls, which previous semesters had not mentioned, then maybe she is having to key them in one at a time and I'm sure that takes time...if she needs help I'll be glad to volunteer lol. That's the only reason I can come up with as to why this is taking so dang long. But I have to be honest and say that it does SEEM as though it is a little unorganized and has me worried that the program will be the same way. I have never been in this situation before therefore I do not know if this is typical but by reading the thread for last semester it seems like it went pretty smoothly back then. Anyone know if this is typical?

If they want to play a good game, hesi should be taken only once or people that scored higher on first attempt, passing all the sections with a good gpa should be the first to be considered. As i said b4, is all....................
