Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

i wish we knew our schedules already...

Well I think it's safe to assume based on the orientation info that we will have class Mon-Fri 8-10:50. Then we'll either have lab T-Fri 11-1 or 1-3.

Hopefully they'll surprise us and send out our schedules this week.

Nail has been hit on the head. I don't really care for the first 8 weeks since it's going to be class every day. It's the clinicals that I care about.

Half of us will have Health Assessment on Monday from 8-11am and the other half will have a 12-3pm schedule. Either one is okay with me but I sure would like to know which one!

man.. i wish i didn't live so far from the school, lol.. i live all the way in baytown! a lot of gas for meeee.

and ps- what do you guys recommend i do about my job? should i keep a job while in school? or no?

WOW this site is amazing lol. well, i'm very new to this and am also a new student at san jac ADN. Does anyone else have a total of about $900 dollars for books or is it just me? help! I don't want to wait to long to get them.

I'm going to work part-time while I'm in school because I'm not fortunate enough to not work. They said at orientation our worst semester to work will be med/surg so thats when I plan on working less. I think it depends on the person, if your good at managing your time with studying and working. From what I heard its not that bad working and school the first semester. Hope this helps, but I think its personal preference.

Howdy! I'm absolutely positive you can get most of the books for around 400 or less. Do not not not settle for San Jac's prices. There's still 2 weeks left before we're going to need any of this, so shop around.

My advice (which also happens to be what I'm doing, so I'm a tad bit biased) is shopping with Majors Bookstore, Amazon, and any other bookstore I can possibly find. I've so far spent about 350 dollars in books, and I only need 4 more. If you would like, I can give you a whole bunch of places that I've found good prices for each book you'll need and where you'll get the best price for each one. I hate seeing people overpay for things that they don't have to!

Chelken, I think he said we have lecture T-F 8:00-10:50 and then we'll be split up into 2 groups for lab like we did for A&P and Micro. I know we have to be there more than 3 hrs a day if we also have lab and I do remember him saying that we have 2 sessions for lab.

Chelken, you're right about Monday. I thought you were referring to the T-F class schedule. So we have a test in Health Assess after only 1 day of class? I guess we need to have our questions ready on Monday the 24th.

Melissa,

I was told by someone that we do have a test in Health Assessment on the second day of class, which would be the second Monday, over the first four chapters. I guess we will find out for sure on the 24th! I am ready to get this semester started.

Please let me know if you all get your schedules, because I was told we had to pay by August the 13th and well it looks like we won't be getting out schedules by that time... I have no idea how they are doing things...

I have also started reading the Fundamentals book and it is pretty interesting, but I haven't memorized anything... How is everyone doing on the reading portion?
