This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN programs in San Francisco, Oakland, or San Mateo for 2010 entry.
This is my second application for admission. San Mateo had a July 1 and Nov 1 deadline, I applied to both. I received a letter the first week in November (in regards to the July 1 deadline) that I was number 48 of 50 waitlisted. This was the first I heard from them regarding that application!! So I am pretty sure I will not be offered admission to that program. Does it seem like a long time that it takes approx 3 1/2 to 4 months to hear anything regarding admission?
I don't know if being waitlisted once will help my chances of getting into any of their other programs or not. I emailed them shortly after the November 1st deadline to find out how long before we will hear anything. And they said they will not be sending out admission offers until at least mid-February!!
I would love to hear from anyone else that has experience with Samuel Merritt's admission process especially from those that were accepted recently. Does anyone know how many applications they receive?
I'm also applying for the SF Fall 2010 section and submitted my application a few days before the deadline. I haven't received an emails with regards to my application and the check hasn't been processed yet. I've called them a few times and left messages, but no answer. I just sent an email to the counselor I met, so hopefully she will respond with good news. Really hoping I get into the program, but am a little intimidated at the same time (male here hah). Good luck to everyone and please keep posting your updates. I was going crazy about my application until I read some of the posts on this thread.
I haven't received confirmation either. I have been trying to get a hold of someone. I have called and left messages; I also sent emails but no answer so far. This is so fustrating! I really hope they didn't misplace my application.
I emailed ------ last week about not receiving a confirmation for my application and I just heard back from her today. She said that "the front office is still entering the applications for fall, so it may still be a while before the confirmation goes out." I was getting nervous about it since my check hasn't been cashed yet either. Too bad she didn't answer my questions of where I am on the wait list...
Hello everyone, just wanted to give an update on my experience so far. Today I received an email informing me that my file was incomplete for the following reasons:
- An electronic copy of my TEAS needs to be sent to SMU. If you haven't done this I recommend you do it ASAP!
- Supposedly they did not receive a copy of my prerequisite worksheet and I will need to submit one immediately.
Like most of you I quadruple checked my packet for completeness before submitting it and also met with a counselor to check it for completion the same day I turned it in. I also made copies of every sheet I submitted for my own record. In my gut I believe this page of my application got lost in the shuffle. Fortunately, they do seem to give you an opportunity to address any issues with your app. so I hope this incident doesn't affect my chances of getting in. Will keep you all posted.
P.S Make copies of any documents you submit. They might come in handy
It's absurd that they would think you would turn in your packet without a prerequisite worksheet! It was the most important sheet in the application besides the written statements...In regards to the TEAS, did you take it at SMU? I called ATI and was informed that if the test was taken at SMU, there is no need to request the results be sent.
I would say go with the gut feeling that they lost your prereq worksheet in the shuffle...I can just imagine my application that reflects all my hard work just floating around in a messy office! I would think that even with the move, employees would handle our applications with care...considering the fact that we paid $50 for them just to look at it!

Those are my thoughts exactly. There are probably apps spread out all over a huge table and my prereq' sheet is probably now with someone else's paperwork! I hope if they do find the original that they acknowledge there mistake and do a better job of keeping track of people's docs. As for my TEAS, I actually took it in sacramento for Sac city college nursing program in Aug. of 2008. This is my first time applying to SMU but have been trying to get in on the JC lottery system for quite a while now. No luck with that so far LOL!
i still have not received my confirmation email, and it's already been a month since i submitted my application packet postmarked 3/1...anybody else in the same boat??
i actually received the awaited confirmation email this afternoon from the Admission counselor.
She mentioned something about Admission being moved to a new building and that caused a delay in processing...so they still don't have the total count of the applicant pool for the fall term.
