This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN programs in San Francisco, Oakland, or San Mateo for 2010 entry.
This is my second application for admission. San Mateo had a July 1 and Nov 1 deadline, I applied to both. I received a letter the first week in November (in regards to the July 1 deadline) that I was number 48 of 50 waitlisted. This was the first I heard from them regarding that application!! So I am pretty sure I will not be offered admission to that program. Does it seem like a long time that it takes approx 3 1/2 to 4 months to hear anything regarding admission?
I don't know if being waitlisted once will help my chances of getting into any of their other programs or not. I emailed them shortly after the November 1st deadline to find out how long before we will hear anything. And they said they will not be sending out admission offers until at least mid-February!!
I would love to hear from anyone else that has experience with Samuel Merritt's admission process especially from those that were accepted recently. Does anyone know how many applications they receive?

Yeah, I still haven't received a confirmation e-mail but my check did clear last week! I have been e-mailing a counselor back and forth and she said she still hasn't processed my application and that more people will receive confirmation e-mails next week. I am just dying to know if they have everything!
Everyone please note:
I received an email from the counselor saying that the GPA for my undergrad transcript did not meet the last 60 unit requirement of 3.0. She attached an excel spreadsheet showing how they calculated the GPA. I was surprised when I saw this and decided to look things over just to make sure there were no mistakes. HOWEVER, I did in fact find a mistake in their calculations, which brought my GPA down. I've been emailing the counselor all weekend and she finally acknowledged the mistake this morning.
If any of you receive an email about ineligibility due to not meeting the 3.0 GPA requirement, DOUBLE CHECK THEIR WORK! I really don't want to see this happen to anyone else

You are absolutely right. If you have read any of my earlier posts you will see that I have had issues as well. I believe that the counselors processing our applications are not taking their time and are being very careless. I wish they would be 100% sure of the information before they convey it to applicants. I'm glad you were able to reconcile the error.

Yes I've read your posts and am glad they were able to find your paperwork. It angers me that we are paying them a $50 processing fee and mistakes still arise, especially ones that would cause us to be ineligible. Had I not taken a second look, I would have spent the next semester or two taking courses just to raise my gpa.
On a bit of a different note. I have been reading a lot of posts on the dismal job outlook after graduation if we were to get in. It's pretty discouraging! I currently work full time and make excellent money so the choice to change careers is strictly for personal passion, but realistically we all need to be employed and make an income. Any thoughts or concerns out there?
Well, I completely understand what you two are going through because I just received an e-mail that they can't find any of my letters of recommendation. They are asking me to re-submit them, but if they have my application my letters were in the exact same package so I don't know what happened
What a nightmare.
