This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN programs in San Francisco, Oakland, or San Mateo for 2010 entry.
This is my second application for admission. San Mateo had a July 1 and Nov 1 deadline, I applied to both. I received a letter the first week in November (in regards to the July 1 deadline) that I was number 48 of 50 waitlisted. This was the first I heard from them regarding that application!! So I am pretty sure I will not be offered admission to that program. Does it seem like a long time that it takes approx 3 1/2 to 4 months to hear anything regarding admission?
I don't know if being waitlisted once will help my chances of getting into any of their other programs or not. I emailed them shortly after the November 1st deadline to find out how long before we will hear anything. And they said they will not be sending out admission offers until at least mid-February!!
I would love to hear from anyone else that has experience with Samuel Merritt's admission process especially from those that were accepted recently. Does anyone know how many applications they receive?
I'm taking Pharmacology and Pathophysiology this upcoming session at SBCC. I completed Pharmacology at Miracosta College back in 2008, but I was informed by the Chair of the ABSN department that she deemed it "not RN level". It's so absurd!!! So if you're taking classes anywhere else besides schools on their approved list, beware!
Hey all,
I also applied to the SF Nov cohort. I took Pharm at a local junior college (with preapproval) and then I am taking Patho from UCLA's extension. It's online and pretty easy to register for; it also costs $550 so it's cheaper than some other schools except for the community colleges. Good luck to everyone!
I'm trying really hard not to think about when we'll get the call or email...I just want mid-June to come like I wasn't counting down!
I'm keeping myself busy with Microbio final in the next few hours, study for CLEP for Dev Psych for mid-June, and gearing up for Patho and Pharm for the summer at SBCC.
I also wonder how many applicants there are. Secretly, the wait is killing me. AND I was reminded about the wait when I was studying at Borders and I overheard someone say to another person, "Its harder to get into nursing school than law school." Great.
I emailed SMU asking where to send transcripts too but I added a blurb, "any news yet?" which was my REAL intention of the email. LOL!
She responded that she expects to hear from faculty at the end of the week...which probably means they will let us know next week.
The wait is killing me and me scrounging these forums aren't helping!

I got the email too (I wonder if they have turned anyone down yet? I am also wondering how many applicants there were). I have two job offers pending on this decision- which one I take depends on whether I get in, and now I have to wait until end of May? Ack!
