Samuel Merritt ABSN 2010 Admissions - San Francisco, Oakland, San Mateo

Published

This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN programs in San Francisco, Oakland, or San Mateo for 2010 entry.

This is my second application for admission. San Mateo had a July 1 and Nov 1 deadline, I applied to both. I received a letter the first week in November (in regards to the July 1 deadline) that I was number 48 of 50 waitlisted. This was the first I heard from them regarding that application!! So I am pretty sure I will not be offered admission to that program. Does it seem like a long time that it takes approx 3 1/2 to 4 months to hear anything regarding admission?

I don't know if being waitlisted once will help my chances of getting into any of their other programs or not. I emailed them shortly after the November 1st deadline to find out how long before we will hear anything. And they said they will not be sending out admission offers until at least mid-February!!

I would love to hear from anyone else that has experience with Samuel Merritt's admission process especially from those that were accepted recently. Does anyone know how many applications they receive?

Hey norcalgal and robinson I got a call too letting me know I was accepted into the program! I'm so excited! Congrats! Can't wait to meet you all!

Hey everyone,

Congratulations to those that got in! I just registered for the site and thought I would chime in. I received a call yesterday saying I am waitlisted #6. I am really hoping that I get in because this program is my 1st choice. I know two women with great stats that applied and both of them have other options. One started the USF elmsn last week. Don't lose hope! I know it's frustrating.

Hi lidrumbrboy,

Can u share your stats with us?

Hey lildrumrboy- did they call you on Saturday?

If they have called waitlisted people I'm guessing they have already called all of the admitted applicants. Which means I probably did not get in... Wow. I don't understand... I had a great GPA, awesome TEAS score, and granted most of my experience was with animal medicine, it still taught me so much!

Crap. What do I do now.

Actually- im curious... Who has NOT heard anything?

Hey andy and preet,

I got my call very late-maybe 5 in the afternoon so it is possible they will call more people monday. I think my undergrad gpa held me back a bit. I was 2.86 in business admin from Humboldt. Since returning to school I have managed straight A's which brought my last 60 gpa to about 3.5. All science prereq's A's and 87 teas (95 math 91 eng comp). I have 1 yr volunteering at a hospital in san pablo and worked 8 years in retail management.

I was hoping to get in this time. I was waitlisted in san mateo campus last time. My number was 30 and I had 6 pre reqs in progress that time.

hi everyone,

to everyone else who is still waiting for an answer...i feel your pain! it's so hard to keep waiting, and to know that calls are being made, but to not know the order, or if they are done making them or anything. i'm trying to remain optimistic, but it's hard! this is my second year applying to samuel merritt, and i have a high GPA, high TEAS scores, am a CNA and have volunteer experience...i just don't know what more I can do to show them just how badly I want to be come a nurse. Anyways, I'm with you all in spirit and I hope we all get in sooner rather than later!

Hi Rose,

You deserve to get in. Have u tried calling them about it? I emailed them couple of times to know if they are done making calls. They never replied me.

Hi Preeti,

Thanks for the support. I did email them to see if they could tell me anything about the notification process, so we'll see if I get a reply. It's incredibly challenging to want something so badly and to maintain patience. Fingers crossed for us!

Hey,

I dont think that they have made any calls today. Otherwise someone would have posted about it.

Rose & Preeti- I am with you- I don't think they have done any calls today. I have emailed two people, and am now on my second attempt at calling- was on hold over 45 minutes the first time (had to hang up for work), and am currently at... 26 minutes.

I am trying to remain optimistic, but it is hard knowing that even some people on waitlists already know. I keep hoping that it was just that they divvied names of people to call up between several people at SMU and some just haven't gotten around to making theirs yet...

Fingers crossed for us all... sounds like a number of us haven't heard anything, so hopefully that's a good thing (in a frustrating, irritating kind of way).

Good Luck folks. Please keep us posted.
