roll call!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Looks like they did some work around here!

Lets do a quick roll call to see who's here (pre-nursing students)!

I'm FutureNurse2005, hoping to start the BSCN program in Fall 2005. I'm in Canada and plan to move to California after I graduate! I'm completing my pre-reqs right now (I HATE MATH!! :chuckle ) and will be applying in December of this year.

I'm married with 2 kids and no pets yet!

Nice to meet you all! :)

Hello all!

I am beginning an ADN program in the Fall at the Borough of Manhattan Community College; I'm preparing my schedule now. That, my significant other, my daughter (14 mo. old) and a career with a fluctuating schedule are just a few of the current challenges.

Good luck to all!

HI, I am from Rochester, ny , I am taking physiology over the summer and I will begin the adn progam here at a local cc come september. I am nervous but excited to start the process.

Hi everyone!

I'm Jennifer and I am married to Jeff. We have three wonderful kids and live in Rock Hill, SC. With the exception of our littlest one, we're originally from Buffalo, NY. (Boy, do we ever miss the food! LOL) I've been a SAHM for 6 years and am now pursuing my dream of being a L&D nurse.

I am on #45 on the waitlist at the local Technical College. The nursing program there is owned by USC. They accept 44 each Fall, so as long as one person drops off after letters go out next January, I'll be starting my ADN program Fall 2005!!!

I am taking all my gen ed courses and electives now. Thankfully I don't have to take any pre-req's. This summer, I'm taking COL 101, Psych 201 and Computers 101. It's been an adjustment for all of us and I'm having a hard time trying to find time to do my studies (all three of my classes are online so it's a lot of independent study), but it's nice to be using my brain again LOL

Good luck everyone!!

Beginning my Pre-Reqs as well for the fall at BMCC. Trying to get some of the pre-reqs in the summer just to keep things flowing at a steady pace, with 2 kids & a full time job , i need to pace myself. I heard that at BMCC you need to maintain a high GPA in order to qualify for the clinical phase. Well I'll give it my best shot!!!

Good luck to all!!!:coollook:

hi, i am applying for spring 05. right nowi am taking three pre-reqs over in summer school since i had b's in them. i started out a different major and really messed around. now seven years later i am having to re-take them. but math it my absolute worst. so i might bug some of you with a few questions. i have a daughter that is 5 months and a husband so school is a little different now. anyways, i am glad i found these boards! i am going adn, for right now but the more i read i am wondering if i should be going bsn. i can always go back for the year transition.

I had to take some of my pre-req's over because they were just too old. I have been going to school for about 2 years now, mostly online, but now on campus. You really have to manage your time when you have little ones. My kids are 7 months apart, and are 3 1/2 and 4, the youngest has severe disabilities. She will sometimes cuddle with me, while I am reading assignments. Good luck, and if you need help with math PM me. I love math.

I got my LPN 16 years ago. I started right away to "bridge" into the RN program. But took up with an old flame. I ended up moving, getting married and starting a family. Am just now able to start back to reaching for that goal of becoming an RN. I will be doing the ADN program at the local community college. Later after the kids are in school full time I will consider doing the BSN thing. I have not decided if that is my long term goal or not. My current goal is to get into the program this spring, and will finish within a year. I have to do a lot of paperwork though. I have to get a year from my teenage years forgiven, and then have my application in my the end of August. :coollook:

hello,

i am going to be starting my pre-req's in sept. at my local cc and i am so excited!! i have wanted to go back to school for years and the time is finally right. it has been 13+ yrs since i've been in college and currently i am a registered dental hygienist and do love my career but i really have had a great deal of medical problems & surgeries and i have such respect for all the nursing professionals that have helped me in recent years. i want to help patients so much more than what i am doing now and know that nursing will be a great career for me. i am a very caring & compassionate rdh and know that those traits will help me excel as an rn.

i am just getting over having a biopsy done a month ago and just 3 days ago i had a screw removed from my reconstructed knee. right now i am still in a lot of pain and thought i'd write in this thread to keep my mind off of the pain. also, in 2wks i am going to have a fairly major surgical procedure(s) on my shoulder and hope i'll be ready for it. i just want to get my body in check hopefully before sept. comes along and then focus on my studies. i've had to put off starting classes because of my health problems and i am going to keep my fingers crossed that i can definitely start my studies in sept. it is so great to read about everyone else preparing to pursue nursing. my hat goes off to all those who have children because that is such an accomplishment to go to school and raise a family too!! i am soon to be 34 and single but hopefully would like to have a family one day too :) i figured if i do not go back to school now i may never do it. i am from southern connecticut and would love to hear from anyone else in my area. this board is so great and i have gained some valuable tips already and also talked w/some great people preparing for their nursing career. ok, well i look forward to being a part of this group for a long time! god bless you all,

sue :)

Hello everyone! I haven't been on the boards for a few days, what a surprise to see this forum!

It's nice to see others like myself here :)

So far I have my credits in :Speech, College Writing 1, gen psych, and my electives. I'm currently taking medical terminology and nutrition. Next session it will be biology and computer essentails, followed by: growth & development, sociology, & number systems, in the fall. I plan to apply this fall for my c.c summer 05' ADN nursing program. Hopefully I'll know if I'm accepted by Feb. I eventually plan to go on for a BSN.

I'm also a wife and mom of three girls ages: 8, 6 & almost 2. Just hope I can survive studying, summer activities and potty training my youngest. :uhoh21:

Good luck to you all :coollook:

Hi all,

I started my prereqs last semester and am taking developmental psych and intermediate algebra over the summer. Then this fall I will be taking A&P1 and Chemistry and the NET and then in January fill out all of my info for nursing school at another CC to start Fall of 05.

Our school has a transfer program with the other CC saving 15 slots so it takes alot of stress away as there are only 7 in my school that are eligible in Jan!

I work as an EMT and have a 2 1/2 year old daughter

Hi everyone! Im Alissa and Im a hopeful RN applicant in Louisiana. I take my entrance exam June 19th and then hopefully I will get an acceptance letter! I work full time, have no children, except my bf who acts like a child sometimes, and in my free time, I help him run his automotive business.

Everyone cross their fingers that I do well on the 19th!!!
