  1. I don't know but I would like to know what gpa gets you in. I have heard that it is pretty easy to get in. But who knows. I applied for spring but don't find out until dec. I am climbing the walls. If i find out anything I will let you know.
  2. Well, I was going to post this earlier, but backed out (did not want to step on anyones toes) BUT you leave me no choice :chuckle Remember, we are funny creatures and we are all trying to get into nursing school, or have tried to get in at some point. Some people are just plain nasty and want to make it seem like it is impossible. Maybe they don't have the grades, maybe they applied and did not get in. Stress, pressure, bad information, and fear are the reasons for the negativity. All you can do is get the best grades that you can, finish all of your pre-wrecks, pre-testing, and apply. The problem being that when you have the "perfect students" as you say, that are trying to get into the same nursing program as you, they win due to the points given on GPA. No getting around it. Maybe take one or two classes over for an A, it could make the difference. If you want it bad enough you will make it happen. Don't be discouraged, apply everywhere give it what you have, nothing less, and I am sure something will work out for you.
  3. Thanks wanabebabynurse, sometimes it helps for someone just to say.......i buckled down and did it until I got it. NO better advice. Thanks so much I'll let you know how I did.!!
  4. ugh, i am having a TOUGH time with respiratory. everything else has pretty much been "easy" compared to this. Any suggestions. I have done the cd with the book, notes, book, reading..........i must be missing something that ties it all up. anyways, just frustrated. test on tues. on the lab portion i got an A, but the lecture is different.
  5. its me again, i am applying for fall after all. there is a train about 20 min. away from my house so now that driving isn't an issue i am there. I have heard good things about their program so i am looking forward to it. i figure i could record lectures and listen to them on the way home or read. have you taken the net? hope to see you there!!
  6. I am thinking about it, the only thing holding me back is the drive. I live in arlington, so I am applying to TCC weatherford and el centro/northlake. Where do you live?
  7. You can do it.... even with children. My daughter is 8 months. and when I started retaking the courses this summer she was only 3 months. A person gave me some good advice, she said if you want it bad enough you will make it happen. So when I get discouraged i just remember that. Shoot for the 4.0, take it one class at a time if you have to. Maymester and summer school help you to get there faster. Apply everywhere is good advice, you never know!! I recently had a friend that had not finished all her pre reqs apply and get in!! You can do it!

  9. I was wondering the same thing. I am submitting my application in Jan. Right now I am taking A&P 1 and micro. I did repeat the 4 pre-req classes for A's. I was scared that I would not get in without a 4.0. The lady I spoke with told me that there were 600 applications, and the cut off gpa was 3.7, so maybe if you just took one class over for an A that would work. Anyway, good luck, hopefully we will both be there!
  10. was this your first time applying swau? do you mind me asking what your prereq grades were? I have been looking into their program. thank you!
  11. Denise, you kill me! why are we so afraid of the algebra thing? I almost wrote that same post yesterday. I am going to start looking into scholorships for swau. the more places i can apply the better!! danielle
  12. well i knew the notes inside out and that is the reason I did so well in that class. to me, it just wasn't as scary of a class as people make it seem. BUT maybe it was the teacher and maybe I am in for a big surprise within the next few weeks. I am taking micro and a&p 1 and i am pretty sure i have the same teacher for each class. Anyways, yes I am from new mexico. born and raised. I lived i clovis, and actually my whole family still lives there. my husband and I think about going back............but who knows. did you go to nmsu? where do you live anyway? what schools are you applying to and what prewrecks do you have left?
  13. RELAX! I am retaking it.............really sucks I had a 96 average in the class. I had to go to New Mexico on a family emergency and was unable to finish. I had Carrington at SE campus and she was great. I am taking it at South campus this fall. They usually give you the notes and all you have to do is study them until you understand. You will be fine! What else are you taking?

Thanks for your post. I want to be a nurse, and I have one more pre-req before I apply. When I came on this board it seemed so many people were unhappy with their profession and it worried me a little. It is good to see your post.
  15. That is the best thing i have heard all day! thank you. i don't know how you study......you are wonderwoman! when are you applying for nursing school? are you going BSN or ADN
