Hello allnurses,

I'm an LVN for a year now in a skilled nursing facility. I've been working in healthcare for about 5 to six years now and I love it. I'm hoping to further my career before I have babies because we just got married in August :D

Congrats on choosing nursing. I am an LPN taking my last prerequisite classes to enter the RN program and I am 49yrs. old. I do love nursing but we LPN's still do not get the respect we deserve. I am doing EVERYTHING now on my unit that the RN's do clinically but am still treated as if I am the RN's personal aide. I do what I am asked because I know that the patients would suffer if I didn't. I know that I will be an RN soon and will work very hard as a team player with all staff. Never forget where you came from and always be proud of what you do and remember always that it is the little things that can really make a patient feel better. Good Luck in your future as an RN. You can do it!

Been a LPN 3 years and I started RN school june 2010. I believe it was a smart decision and I look forward to learning. Grades are looking great so far and I even made the Deans list.:)

Hello! I'm 23, and I've been an LVN for about a year and a half. I did it with the intent of enrolling in a bridge program ASAP. Anyways, after having to retake prerequisites that didn't transfer from a different school, and then not being admitted last semester due to the California budget crisis, I'm finally in the bridge program! Feels pretty good after having a cloud of uncertainty loom over me for the past year. Hoping to finish by December 2011.

I have experience as a "charge nurse" in LTC, and am currently working on a neuro/medical med/surg floor. I'm hoping to get in the ICU as soon as I graduate, with hopes of becoming a CRNA.

Good luck every one! Hopefully a year from now I'll come back to this thread saying I passed boards!

Welcome to the club! what program are you going for? what college?

Hello out there. I just completed my LVN and am awaiting my authorization to test for NCLEX. I have been searching for a bridge program that I can take part time so that I can work as well. I am in orange county, california and the only option I am finding is College Network for my pre-reqs ( I have none done yet) and on to Indiana for my BSN. Any advice?

College Network is NOT a college, nor do they give out credits as they lead ppl to believe. Don't fall for this expensive, unnecessary publishing company's selling tactics. Do a search on this site for College Network and you'll gain more info into why you don't want to sign with them.

Hi JenJenCan,

I have only one thing to say about College Network. You have to be VERY disciplined!!! :uhoh3: I was not disciplined enough to get the job done. I have done online classes, but CN is completely self directed and self paced. You will pay for ALL of it whether you complete it or not, so be careful!. I ended up paying for my education twice! I just took my NCLEX-RN Boards this morning!!! We will see how that works out for me. 75 questions!!! Lots of nerve wracking waiting now! Wish I could know sooner than 48 hours! Friday will have to do!!! Good luck in whatever you decide!!!

Robin...GN, maybe:cool: RN one day...LOL

I am 47 and have been an LPN for less than 2 years. I worked part time in LTC before going

back last spring to get my RN. I am going into my last semester for the RN and cannot wait until May. I just hope that there are jobs out there when I graduate. I have wanted to be an RN for a long time and it has taken me 8 years of part time classes to get this far.
