Hi. Kristy here. I just graduated nursing school and I am waiting to take my state boards (LPN, LVN). My next step is to MOVE, ANYWHERE. I can literally throw a dart at the map and call it my home. I have no kids and my fiance is stationed with the airforce and moves all year long. So basically, I am asking those of you who are out there, where should I go. I want to continue and get my RN, so it's up to yall to help me decide where. Any and ALL advice, and or comments would be appreciated. I am stressing over this and can't make up my mind, so please HELP!!!! Thanks and God Bless.

Well that depends on what kind of weather you like. Up North New York State (not city) has beautiful fall weather and the leaves actually change colors it is a sight you will never forget just absolutely beautiful. Although if you don't like the snow the winters will be miserable for you. East Texas is also pretty near Lake Conroe, Humble and Kingwood and not to far from the coast but far enough away from the cost that you don't have to worry to much about hurricanes. Washington state is also a beautiful place to live once again there is the snow in the winter. You might consider travel nursing as well. Good luck to you and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Hello to everyone. I am 33 years old. I have been an LPN for 5 years. I am currently enrolled in an LPN to BSN program. I attend classes 1 night a week. I am in the 3rd semester. It will take 3 years. I have gone a whole year...only 2 left. I am sure there are faster programs out there, but the 1 night a week thing works out really well for me because I have to work and have 3 children I am home schooling. So, I am currrently in Psychology-Life Span and Human Development and Philosophy. We do 2 classes each semester. Next semester starts A&P, I believe....Best wishes to everyone!:smiley_aa

Hi there, could you tell me please what school you are enrolled in. I am currently working full time and this one day per week would be wonderful. Thank you.:nurse: :nurse:

Specializes in Emergency.

I'm currently going to Excelsior for my LPN to RN. I'd also like to know where the one night a week class for a BSN is. I work full-time and that would be heaven!

Thanks!

I graduated from a PN program on Aug 10 and took/passed the NCLEX on the 30th. I go back to school on the 6th of Sept. I have 4 classes other than core nursing courses to transition from LPN to RN (so few as I already have a degree). I am starting the search for a part time job to relieve my hubby from a few of his hours.

I am 41, married and have 5 kids (+ a golden retriever). Only one will be left at home after my 19 y/o heads for boot camp in October. The youngest is still in HS. Good luck to everyone!

I just started 2 of my 4 pre-req while waiting for the nursing program to send out acceptance letters in april for the advanced placement program. I figure as long as I am accepted into the program I will be done by next spring semester. I am trying to get back into the swing of this schoolwork as it has been 13 years since I have HAD to study. My girls think it is great...mom has to do her homework before she can watch any tv. i hate it when the kids turn your rules around on you.:nono:

Hi to all,,I am working on my prereqs, hope to finish them in the spring. Have my fingers crossed for admission to Charity in New Orleans in the fall of '07. I am not attempting the fast track program, as I feel I have been out of touch too long. I have worked nursing home, psych, and chemical rehab. Cannot even get a job in a medical hospital, as they say I have NO experience. So, I am going the whole nine yards to school. Anyone else in my predicament? Also, I am 49 yrs. old, and kinda afraid of not being familiar with all the new equipment.

hey. i just got a message from mimi who says she cant get a job in the hospital bc she lacks experience. i just wanted to let her know, there are YOUNGER girls out there who are in the exact same boat she is in. I just grad in August 06 from LVN school and i can not get a job. i have not even got a single interview due to not having hospital experience. how do u get experience if no one in the hospital system will hire you. i am at wits ends. i am an adrenaline junky who loves ED, ICU, L&D. I cant work any of those floors until I get my RN which is why I am going back to school. my recent bad luck as an lvn has also made me realize that continuing my education is a good idea. i have taken a job with a member of my church as a sitter with an elderly disabled man. i will feed him and do some ROM exercises three days a week. is this what i spent 2 years of school for. i could have done this job with just my CNA! help, I am very frustrated and disappointed. any advice!!!!!

hi LVN'06. thanks for the help. its funny that you mentioned upstate NY. that is where my fiance and his family are from and i do absolutely love it there. the adirondacks are beautiful, and so are the lakes. i am from a town south east of houston. so its also funny that you mention humble. my uncle is a vet there and i have applied at the northeast med center there. travel nursing WAS my #1 option until they told me you have to have experience and an RN. I have no experience. :( i wish i did, bc that is what's keeping me from getting a good hospital type job. any suggestions on that... your other suggestions were great. figured you might could throw out a few more!! thanks!

To everyone.

I am 52 and have been an LPN since 1992. After I completed my college I was lucky enough to work in a small rural hospital in Georgia. For the first 6 years I was employed on a stepdown telemery unit then moved to Atlanta and all I could find was Nursing Home jobs. In Florida where I am now they use only RN's .I am currently in a Junior college doing prerequisites now so I truely hope it will be worth it. It hasn't been easy to get back into the college scene. Heads up and good luck to all. I was informed even though I pass all the course and the NAT it depends on my scores and points as to which year I will get in RN or even the bridge program.
