Stop by, introduce yourself, say a little about yourself. :)
Hi!
I graduated in 1979, but worked as an Lpn only sporatically due to a LOT of marital problems-and my son's health problems. Besides, the pay back then was HORRIBLE-I made $6.50/hr in the ER!
I've recently decided to re-enter my profession- and I'm now gathering study material to start taking CLEP tests to get all my pre-reqs out of the way, and then-hopefully- it'll be on to Excelsior!
I'm 47, and I ain't gettin' no younger!
We've all made the right decision! With a lot of work and a little determination, we'll be the next generation of RN's!
Good luck to us all!!
I'm Crystal... 23 and married to my best buddy. We're still newlyweds... can you tell?:blushkiss No kids, but hoping once I get some of my career goals met we can slow down and start expanding the family. I've been an LPN since August 05, and currently work in a rehab hospital in MI. I've got all my study materials for my LPN to RN from The College Network... but I'm not so good at actually doing the work. I've had them for about 6 months. I feel so overwhelmed by it, though. I mean, that's a LOT of pages. Currently I'm working on microbiology, and am enjoying it for the most part. Does anyone know of any resources where you can network with other students who are in similar programs to you?
I must admit that next to my family, nursing is one of the best things that has ever grabbed hold of me.
Snuggles,
Crystal
Hi! Newly licensed LPN here. . 23 years old
I started at a local community college taking prerequisites (A&P I, Sociology, Psychology, etc.) in September. I plan to transfer out by next Fall 2007 and start the LPN to ADN program at another college. I'm a little stressed right now, A&P I is killing me! But hearsay is that A&P II is easier. I hope so!
I plan to start working by January, right now I am concentrating on school since I am taking 5 subjects (FULL TIME), and I'm a single mom.
Well, that's it!:roll
Sounds like you will be very busy, but also sounds like you have a plan. I just want to remind you to take time for your self and your kids. Don't get burned out. I am almost 45 and have been an LPN for 20+ years, my kids are in college now also, but I still make time for them, they do after all grow up sooooo fast! Best wishes to you!
OK....I'm here to let out my vent..... I am going to apply to RN school one more time then after that ...I'M DONE...I will apply to a new fast track program in my area ..I have a 3.3 or 3.4 all of the 30 or so pre- classes done and then all of the other gen ed classes done. The only problem with this is this program is also open to EMT's and paramedics....that is not a bad thing except it is more competition for me..:smiley_abI feel like a potential student standing out in the middle holding a red sheet and every other applicant charging at me:sofahider... Why does it have to be so hard to get in!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok I'm done ...I'm better .... the mental break down is over:banghead:...UNTIL JANUARY....ugggggggg thank for letting me boil over....
I start the LPN to RN bridge in January....I went to orientation today! Im excited but a little overwhelmed and a little bit chicken...lol. I know I can do it...Im just dreading all the time and hard work Im gonna have to put into it. For some reason, I thought LPN school would have been harder since it was more time consuming (M-F all day long) and the textbook portion of the bridge program at my school is online....but from the looks of things that isnt going to be the case. Ill be continuing to work full time as long as I can.
my new mantra: I can do anything for a year, I can do anything for a year, I can do anything for a year......:roll
