Hi Everyone.

I have been an L.P.N. since 1980 and am almost done with my R.N. degree at P.S.U. I was tired of doing the R.N.'s work with my payscale in skilled nursing. This is a great site for those of us moving onto a degree we know quite abit about already ! Good luck to you all !

Hello, I start the RN program in January in Michigan. I'm a bit nervous. I hear the 4.0 students are having a tough time and that scares me. Hopefully, working part time will help in the learning process.

I must be honest with you. This may not be what you want to hear but here goes. I am a 4.0 student in Texas and the RN program has kicked my butt. I am working part time right now only becouse I can NOT survive without the paycheck. If you have any choice at all do NOT work while attending school. Working will hinder not help you in your treck to become an RN. I do wish you the best of luck and of course this is just my opinion but I do feel verry strongly about it.

HI guys I am just now wanting to get my LPN please someone tell me where to start im so confused any way is there on line classes i could take for some of it then do labs at a main campus?

Hello LVN'06,

Thank you for the input. I'm going to try it for a month and see what happens. I benefited from clinicals because I could relate the pt to the disease. I had a pt with CP and now when I have a question about it, I think of him and how he ambulates and how it effects him. It is easier for me to relate the condition/disease to a person than to try and remember it outright. I also picked up from the 4.0's is to put the diseases/conditions on 3-5 cards and take them with me to work and clinical. I can refresh what I need to know right now. I am using my break to do that, I'm taking 3-5 diseases per chapter to minimize my work when I actually get to it in class. Like when I get to ch 15 in class, I already have 3-5 done and it is less time spent on this at that time.

I will only have 2 classes and 1 clinical per week. After me training I work 2 12 hr shifts on the weekend. No children or girlfriend/wife at this time to divide my time from study. I think it is doable. I do thank you for your input.

LPN for 3.5 years. Working on Nursing concepts 4. I love this program. Using College Network books only. Easier than text books. Can't wait to be an RN. Anyone catching slack from current RN's? "You don't go to clinicals???" I hate that question. We are in clinicals everyday at work!

I have been a nurse for 14 years and yes we have done more clinicals in the field than they ever did in school. I need to get in the groove and go test for NC 1, I am very nervous though, it has been a long time since I studied for a test.:chair:

I am a LPN and have been one for 14 years. I have two small children and have not worked full time in four years. I am in the Chancellor's program and have not had the courage to take my first test. I do not want to fail. I know the material, just nervous. I really would like to know how well these study materials help.:innerconf
