Stop by, introduce yourself, say a little about yourself. :)
Hello all! I been an LPN since 1995. Now I'm in need of a hip replacement. I trying to obtain the materials to study at home. Praying that I will be able to return to work. RN is a distance hope. If I get a power chair I might attend classes. Pray for me please! I have 5 kids and a poor excuse for a husband. RN is a must.
You go girl! Honestly if I get it all together and start this program I will study with you anytime - online - One thing I have a reputation for is digging for answers - I make myself nuts - but If I have a questions I will find the answer - so a good pair we could make. You will be ahead of me of course - but if you get puzzled with something it will only help us all to help each other get through. Best of luck, hope to hear from you again.
By the way it may be the goal of retiring that guides you to step over the ex and inso doing you just may re-invent yourself.
Hi y'all! New to the forums but this place is great!! Ok some about me, went into EMT program in summer of 2000, got working and in 2002 decided to go into the LVN program, got licensed in feb 2004 and have been a nurse ever since. I got married in nursing school, divorcing afterwards, but taking pre-requisites now to apply hopefully december of this year for the bridge program at my school.
It's great to see that there's some place that I belong!

I didn't catch which program and where? Are you online? which school etc...? Sounds great, no clinicals and easier books, do tell!!! and congradulations.
Hi, fallgirl!!
www.excelsior.edu On the search function, type "excelsior", or go to the thread "distance learning". It is a wonderful program! Best of luck to you--and keep us posted!
Hi Mike,
How is school going? I'm sure yo are very busy. I saw in your post that you have young children. I am doing the excelsior distance program. You pretty much teach yourself. I took NC1 Feb. 19th. I have had my NC1 books since 2003 and just took my first exam. You have to be very disciplined to earn your ADN this way. I wanted to acknowledge you post. Keep on trucking, male nurses can write their own ticket.

33, 34 in 22 more days, grad from VN program in 03, most of my practice has been ER, some M/S, ICU/Tele, and gero psych, some Home Health as an auditor. I have anatomy (ugh) PE, Micro and psych left of the pre-requisites, which i'll be finishing up here in fall, then applying to the program. Got married in nursing school, and divorcing now, almost done with that. Plan on staying an ER nurse after graduating the RN program and then going straight on for my BSN as soon as the ADN is completed, then switch over to ICU for a year or so and back to ER then start studying for the CCRN to get my flight status. Or, and I haven't decided which yet, applying for the Nurse Anesthetist program out at UCLA after the BSN is done. I should have my summer bridge course next year during the summer and then sem 3 & 4 and done and into the BSN program.
Anyhow, my sob story... lol...

hi, i am tricia. i am from ohio and i have been a lpn for 13 years. i went right out of high school and was a nurse at 19! i have done all sorts of work and i am currently working on a psych unit. i love it. i am pursuing my rn through excelsior. i feel lpn's get treated differently than rn's and that is the only reason i want my rn. i feel i can do most anything a rn can but do not get the respect they do. also, i have always wanted to work in ob. i am mom to 4 awesome kids, married as long as i have been a nurse! i hope to gain a lot from this site, as this is my first few dys viewing it! oh yeah, i also own a build your own stuffed animal business where people can stuff their own animals right in their home, or anywhere else! feel free to check out the website www.webestuffinworkshops.com
