Stop by, introduce yourself, say a little about yourself. :)
Hello,
Just found this site when i was searching for books for school.
I am a LPN, and have been trying to obtain my RN through home study through Excelisor, for about 12 years now. I am currently studying to take NC 4. Just want to give a word to the wise to be careful of the these study programs that offer to prepare you to clep the tests. I signed up for a tutorial courses through a company and paid them $3000.00 for all the classes that i needed, and the books were sent through another company, another $3000.00, and just at the begining of February the company shut down, so now I am trying to fight to get my money back.
If you are going through Excelsior, they now have many study programs they offer directly through them.
I am trying to continue and not get discouraged, by this recent loss.
Just want to give a bit of advise.
Hello all! I am a 30 year old southern gal with my LPN since October 2005. Wife to DKessler, full time (we have custody) stepmom to 2 sons, ages 10 & 14 (going on 50). Have spent my LPN time as Ob / Gyn / Peds nurse & last month began working at a military hospital in a day surgery area.
I have just begun studying NC1 through Excelsior for the ADN move. Now in day 2 of studying that material & SOOOOOOO excited to be moving forward. I can't wait to sign RN behind my name.
In my spare time I take photography of my youngest one's little league baseball team & am the website coordinator for their travel season. I love to read & have 2 very spoiled puppies that are like 2 more children. LOL
Very glad to have found this forum & look forward to making many new friends. Here's to a great legacy of success for us all!!!!!!
Well, I guess I'll stop in and introduce myself. The name is Chris and I have been a LPN since '92. Since becoming a nurse, I've worked in a variety of settings...Ortho floor, Industrial Medical Clinic, Home Health, Assisted Living, and finally LTC. I've practiced in three different states, LA, WA and no TN. I'm currently employed as an PPS/MDS Coordinator at one of the nursing homes in Memphis. I've been accepted to S.W.TN C.C. fast-track and start classes at the end of May and will graduate May '08.
I have 2 sons, age 3 and >1 y.o. and my wife is also a nurse (BSN and eventual CRNA). Oh, and lets not forget my daughter, my 8 year old black lab.
Thanks for having me!

Hi Everyone,
I graduated from an RPN program in April 2006. I went straight into a bridging program in Sept 2006 to get my BScN. I am just finishing my second semester of the program. I am going out on my first clinical experience this spring.
I also work part time at a hospital and worked permanent part time in
a LTC facility as the night supervisor throughout my first year of University.
It was a challenge doing both, so looking forward to concentrating on school while working part time.
I am a 40 year old wife and Mom to five children and two stepchildren as
well. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it.
Great to see that we have our own corner of this website. I will be back more often to see what challenges we are all facing.
