Repeating 1st semester of nursing school:(
:angryfire Seems like there should be some other recourse available...the Dean of the college instead of the nursing school dean. Only problem is that it would probably take you longer to get it resolved than just jumping through the hoops that they have before you now. Just make sure that you get a different clinical instructor

male nurse haircut rules
Ditto! My program just tells us that it cant be visible at clinicals. I dont know what they would say about tribal tattoos though. I dont think that they ever thought about that one!:monkeydance:

Anyone ever "lost" credits at a community college?
I lost the 3 main science classes...A+P I and II and Micro. Had to retake them. They let me keep the Chemistry, Gen Biology, Math, English and Psych, even though they were older.

It's going to take me sooo long!
I've finally went back after 15 yrs of being a LPN, working full time, 2 kids + wife, and 2 dogs. Try not to stress about it and keep the coffee strong!

Remarks made to an LPN student
I agree with the duck statement...let it roll off of your back. I finished my LPN in 92. In my 15 years of experience, I have met many a LPN that work circles around a lot of RNs. Back when I was in lpn school, we had a full pt load of 8-10 pts on the med surg floor. Now that I am working on my RN, I will never have more than one pt per clinical...so what does that tell you?

Please tell me it's worth the debt!
You also might want to consider that if you go to work as an LPN for a year after graduation, most places offer tuition assistance for you to go back to school for your RN. They might not pay in full, but at least it defers some of the costs of getting your RN. BTW...the cost is definitely worth it!

Charting Bloopers
how about...instill 2 and 1/2 gtts OD q4h? The nursing home was in the middle of survey at the time and the doc was in no way impressed with the state. He wrote the order on purpose!

Roll Call, LPN to RN Students!!!
Well, I guess I'll stop in and introduce myself. The name is Chris and I have been a LPN since '92. Since becoming a nurse, I've worked in a variety of settings...Ortho floor, Industrial Medical Clinic, Home Health, Assisted Living, and finally LTC. I've practiced in three different states, LA, WA and no TN. I'm currently employed as an PPS/MDS Coordinator at one of the nursing homes in Memphis. I've been accepted to S.W.TN C.C. fast-track and start classes at the end of May and will graduate May '08. I have 2 sons, age 3 and >1 y.o. and my wife is also a nurse (BSN and eventual CRNA). Oh, and lets not forget my daughter, my 8 year old black lab. Thanks for having me!

What Degree?????
Haunted, I didnt have any problems when I transfered my license from WA to TN; but when I originally transfered from LA to WA...oh man...what a headache. Hang in there, eventually they will get it straight, just keep hounding them and eventually they'll get sick of you calling. At least thats what happened to me and the WA board. They even knew my voice by the time it was all over!

Moving to Memphis - Which school??
My wife recently graduated from Lowenburg (u of m). She enjoyed the program with a few exceptions such as an instructor here or there. Other than that she said that it was pretty straight forward, just be prepared to study. As for me, I'm doing the LPN mobility tract for my ADN at Southwest CC starting in May. I've heard good things and bad things about both programs. I guess school is what YOU make of it, not the other way around!
