Stop by, introduce yourself, say a little about yourself. :)

hi LVN'06. thanks for the help. its funny that you mentioned upstate NY. that is where my fiance and his family are from and i do absolutely love it there. the adirondacks are beautiful, and so are the lakes. i am from a town south east of houston. so its also funny that you mention humble. my uncle is a vet there and i have applied at the northeast med center there. travel nursing WAS my #1 option until they told me you have to have experience and an RN. I have no experience. :( i wish i did, bc that is what's keeping me from getting a good hospital type job. any suggestions on that... your other suggestions were great. figured you might could throw out a few more!! thanks!

Hi KiKiLVN,

Glad to here that you have been to some of the places I have suggested. My advice to you about getting in at a Hospital is to try Central Texas at Scott & White Memorial Hospital a level ! trauma center. They have just built a new in patient unit and are in desperate need of Nurses including LVN's. The area is small not alot to do but they are hireing LVN's without experience. You can do one or two years there and move on to another hospital in a more desireable area. It will get you the experience you need and there are several community colleges near by that you could bridge from LVN to RN if that is what you want. Their website is www.sw.org Good luck to you.

Hello luv4nursing,

I know this is an old post. However, some things that you wrote fell on my street. I too am doing the excelsior program by way of Rue. I enrolled in Rue a couple of years ago. I would study but not be consistent with it. I plan to finally take the NC1 at the end of October 2006. Everyone says that once you take and pass the first test, it motivates you. I certainly hope so. I too desire to work in a hospital. But like you mentioned, most hospitals don't wish to hire LPNs. How far are you with your nursing concepts? I am a school nurse. You are aware that Excelsior is changing their requirments as far as credits and a 2 part clinicals. I'm praying and striving to be done by the 2009 deadline, before the changes go into affect. Will you share your studing habits and what keep you motivated?

Hey Guys, 26y/o female been a Lpn for 6 years. Started the bridge program at my CC last Aug. Set to graduate in May 06 and boy am I looking forward to it! I'm happy to meet all of you and to be amongst a group that strive toward goals. Look forward to chit-chating with you all later.

Hi...this is just a very easy question...how long will it take for an LPN to finish RN? thanks for the info....

Hey everyone. I'll be done with my LPN in Dec and am working on getting into the excelsior program so I can jump into LPN to RN. Does anyone have any recommendations or anything on how to do that. I contacted their distance learning place by e-mail but haven't gotten anything back. By the way I live in Anchorage AK so if anyone is from here and recommends a place to look for a job as and LPN I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

M Olsen

Actually, that's not an easy question at all. It depends ...are you going the traditional route, bridge program or distance program such as Excelsior?

It really depends how many credits you need and if you choose distance learning, how motivated you are to keep going.

I'm doing the Excelsior route so if you have any questions about that, I'd be happy to try to answer them.

Becky

I want to do my LPN to RN online if possible, and I heard you can do it through Excelsior, but the only info. I found out was through the college network and I don't know if they're legit. or not. Do you have any recommendations about programs?

M Olsen

Hello fellow LPN's to RN's!

I have difficulty at times on our tests because I think I read too much into the questions. Any suggestions? finals are December 17! Can't wait!

Hi! I have only been an LPN for a little over 2 years and am getting ready to start an ADN program in Jan. (currently enrolled in a transitions course). I have worked in LTC since becoming an LPN and am scared to death about doing clinicals in an acute setting. Right now it all seems overwhelming!
