If you're looking for a company that does travel nursing. The company I work for Maxim Healthcare does. They're all over the US and do a lot of travel nursing and also homehealth care and overstaffing for local hospitals. They have a need for LPN's and the pay is good too. M Olsen
  2. I want to do my LPN to RN online if possible, and I heard you can do it through Excelsior, but the only info. I found out was through the college network and I don't know if they're legit. or not. Do you have any recommendations about programs? M Olsen
  3. Hey everyone. I'll be done with my LPN in Dec and am working on getting into the excelsior program so I can jump into LPN to RN. Does anyone have any recommendations or anything on how to do that. I contacted their distance learning place by e-mail but haven't gotten anything back. By the way I live in Anchorage AK so if anyone is from here and recommends a place to look for a job as and LPN I'd love to hear it. Thanks. M Olsen
  4. Hello JMBM and Dom's Mom. I live in Anchorage AK and have lived in AK for 16 years. I'll be getting my LPN in December, and looking for a job as well. RN wages around are pretty good. I've been told starting is about $25 in a hospital. If you're moving up here Dom's Mom I recommend Anchorage. I lived in Fairbanks for 2 years and it was really nice in the summer accept for the forest fires that smoke up the town every year. The main problem though is it averages about -35 in the winter or colder. Anchorage can still get cold but not like that and for not as long. As for the light and dark thing, it's really nice in the summer to have so much light and you just pull your shade when you're ready for bed. For the dark I recommend full spectrum lighting in your house and work, it helps a lot. I also had a correction to make on how long it takes to drive to Fairbanks. It's only 360 something miles away, so it takes about 6 hours in the winter 5 in the summer. It's a beautiful drive all year and there's a lot of pit stops along the way which is nice. I hope you get a chance to enjoy the beauty here. M Olsen
  5. Thanks for all your help frogstomper (interesting name by the way). Congratualtions on starting the program. I'd look forward to any other information you could give as well. Thank you again. M Olsen
  6. Hi everyone. I'll be graduating in December with my LPN from Alaska. I wanted to know if anyone has heard if the College Network (excelsior college) is legitimate. Also does anyone know if you can call the nursing board or something and find out, and see if they are will it apply to the state of alaska. Thank you very much. M. Olsen
