Roll Call - Introduce Yourselves, Texans!

Published

Go ahead, break the ice, and introduce oneself!

I guess I'll start. I'm originally from California, and have resided in Texas since late 2005. I've been an LVN since January 2006, and I currently work in the rehab section of a skilled nursing facility in Fort Worth. Since August 2006, I have earned 38 college credit hours worth of prerequisite classes to be applied toward one of several local LVN-to-RN bridge programs.

greetings all, i am a native of dallas, tx. i just passed the net test to get into dni (dallas nursing institute) formally (north texas professional institute) classes start april 7th. i am both afraid and excited about this new venture, so i will be hitting the board quite regularly once school starts...........:yeah:

Hello all!

I'm a native Texan born and raised in Port Lavaca but I've lived in Pflugerville for about 12 years now. I'm married w/ 2 boys ages 8 and 12. I have a Health Administration degree from Texas State (SWT).

I'm working on my second degree and hope to get into an ADN program at either Austin Community College or Temple College for Fall 2008. I'm not picky, I just want in a program and SOON!

Supposedly, I'll here from Temple sometime in May and ACC sometime in June.... the wait is killing me!!!

That's all for now. Nice to meet everyone... have a great evening!

Hey y'all!

Another native Texan here, born and raised in DFW. I am a former EMT (1999-2003), midwifery intern (2003-2006), newly-certified CNA, and I will begin my LVN training next week (Concorde).

A career in nursing has been a lifelong dream and I am so grateful to finally have the opportunity to pursue it. Eventually, I would like to become a FNP.

Specializes in ICU.

HI. I'm Stacy. Born in Texas and been here the majority of my life. I'm currently taking the pre-requisits for Nursing at TCC-South. I've got 2 little girls and I work full time for a financial planning firm - and go to school at night. Its been a sllloooowww process, but i'm getting closer to the end and so excited about it!

I just got accepted to Lone Star College Montgomery campus for the Fall of 08. Can't wait to get started on my ADN! :yeah:

Hi, I am Sandy. Born and raised Texan in the DFW area.

Ex-paramedic from the early 90's. I am trying to get into TCC nursing program.

I work full time for an airline but due to the unstability of the industry I am looking to make a career change soon.

Specializes in Psych, EMS.

Heyy my name is Charlotte and this June I am starting the Accelerated BSN program at A&M Corpus! Good Luck everyone!!!!!

My turn!!!

I am a proud, born and raised Texan. I could not imagine going anywhere else. I was raised in Irving (suburb of Dallas) and moved to a small town up in north Texas at 13! I thought my life was over and my parents were evil for moving me to such a small town but I LOVE IT and would never go back to the big city! I went to east Texas for about 10 years but came back home to north Texas 6 years ago.

I graduate with my ADN from GCC on May 9th. I plan on bridging to UT for my BSN next year. I start work in medical/oncology on June 16th. I am married with 3 wonderful children and a very supportive husband.

For everyone entering nursing school, I have just a few words of advice. Even though sometimes you will feel you can't make it and there is not enough time in the day to do ALL that needs to be done, keep trudging along because it is SO WORTH IT and you will make it to the end before you know it!! GOOD LUCK! :yeah:

Dawn

Hi all-- I am Missouri born and TEXAS raised...lol. I'm 33, one son. I will hopefully be attending McLennan Community College (Waco) LVN program in the fall, after dropping out of the ADN program one semester in nearly 11 years ago. I've worked as a CNA all these years, and am finally ready to up my status!!!

Hey, y'all! I moved to East Texas (Nac-a-nowhere) in 1978 and have lived in Austin for 23 years. I've been freelancing for publishers for the last 10 years. Before that I taught elementary school. A couple years ago, I felt the need to leave my house and work with live people again (instead of by e-mail, as I do with clients). I knew I needed a job to help others, not a job to work for The Man's bottom line, but I couldn't find a job that paid as much as I could earn freelancing.

Then low and behold, India ventured into editorial, and I found more of my clients closing, offshoring, or dropping my rates considerably. I reckoned it was time for an exit plan before I was out of business entirely. After careful consideration, I decided on nursing.

So I'm back in school for a third degree (thank goodness I have a patient husband), and I hope to apply to nursing school for Fall 2009. I'm enjoying my classes and so happy to be back in the world!

Wasn't sure if I was allowed to post in this thread since I am not even in nursing school yet, but..

I live in Denton, TX, and have lived here all my life (19 years, 20 on May 17.) I am very soon going to be done with my prereqs, and on my way to a nursing program! I will be going to TWU. I am very very excited to start this chapter of my life.:heartbeat

Specializes in Cardiac, Derm, OB.

Hey everyone, born in east texas lived in north texas for 8 years and moved back to east texas a year ago. I decided to go back (I'm old, lol) to school. I have been accepted to an ADN-RN program to start August 25th. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted and good luck to those who are still waiting. Would love to hear from anyone going or starting to nursing school in East Texas this fall.
