RN school graduation gift to self? What did you promise yourself?

Nurses New Nurse

Published

We all know RN school is hard enough. Some excell in it, some struggle, while others enjoy a challenge. I am starting to think I am going to have to reward myself with something very nice in the END ( graduation). I would like to ask "all nurses " what did you do for yourself, to reward yourself for all the hard work? Something? Anything? Nothing? Take care.:yeah::yeah::yeah:

I bought a new car...couldn't believe it. I am typically so thrifty (AKA cheap) that I would only buy used, but I DID need a reliable vehicle that could handle bad weather, right? :p After all, nurses can't call off due to weather...(don't you love rationalization?) :lol2:

I promised myself I would get Lasix eye surgery, just for me :D. When nursing school got tough, I would fantasize about having enough money to treat myself to that.

I LOVE this question! After graduation, passing the NCLEX and getting a job, I am going to first pay off the car loan (I AM ALMOST THERE!) and then I am treating my 3 person family on a cruise to someplace tropical. I am hoping to be able to do both by March 2012.

I am a First year Nursing student and llooovvvinnnggg it btw, but my plan of a gift to myself for getting my licence is a.... real Gibson Guitar :)

I got myself a Littmann Cardiology III, as a graduation gift. After I have my license in hand and a job, I am losing some serious weight, the family is going on a real vacation, and the kids will get a spree at the mall. They have all seriously sacrificed for me, and it is time for all of use to be comfortable.

After that, we will be buying a house, hopefully around 3/2012, so I'll need a full-time position, and some prn, but I am more than willing.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Academics.

I bought myself an amethyst ring after graduating and passing boards. Most of my jewelry is costume so this was a special treat!

I was recently mandated and have been thinking of getting a reproduction Swedish Mora clock with the extra cash!

Will be getting something completely frivolous and unnecessary - teeth whitening maybe (darn you coffee!), or Lasik.

This is gonna sound really bad but i splashed out and bought lots of lovely expensive underwear that makes me feel confident and smiley.

Sounds daft really.

We are now planning on sorting the pc out as it needs a new hard drive, more ram and a new disk drive.

While I studied for the NCLeX, I rented an RV and traveled. Since I knew I would be sitting at home and studying, I decided to get out and see some scenery and study. Being in a different location on a semi-vacation made studying that much easier. I would often set up my collapsible chair and table and study outside. Very nice.
