We all know RN school is hard enough. Some excell in it, some struggle, while others enjoy a challenge. I am starting to think I am going to have to reward myself with something very nice in the END ( graduation). I would like to ask "all nurses " what did you do for yourself, to reward yourself for all the hard work? Something? Anything? Nothing? Take care.:yeah:
I followed what one of my "mom nurse" friends did, and took my kids to the mall for a modest spree. They deserved it after all the missed vacations, ball games, and my stressed out crankiness. It felt good to say "Get it!" rather then, "We don't have the money right now." As for myself, I bought an iPod touch with nursing software - and I use it all the time.
when i finished lpn school (2008) and found a job, i bought a new lexus car. when i finished rn school last year, i did not buy anything and just save my money in the bank.
i too bought a car about two months after graduation - a bmw x3. i was so excited to have a new car after years and years of used and hand-me-downs. of course that was back when jobs were everywhere and i didn't have to worry about being out of work. now i drive a hyundai and put my money aside!
After I graduated, all I wanted was to pass my boards and get a job so I wouldn't have to work as a PCT anymore. With my first paycheck I caught up on bills and after that I was able to buy some things for myself, like a much needed comforter set. I was even able to go on a nice little vacation. Now I'm satisfied financially and I'm saving up for a car. I do plan on purchasing a Kindle Fire next month though.
