In my state we can get an auto license plate that has RN with a picture of stethoscope on it. Today I learned an Lpn in my facility has one on her car. She is not in school to obtain her her and no one in her household is an RN. I just find this strange.
RN plates = lame. non-RNs with RN license plate = lamer
I totally resent your published sentiment. As I have said previously in this thread: I enjoy my RN plate, am proud of it, and of my contribution to nursing education.
Perhaps your advanced education does not allow for others' pride in their (lesser) education. Your opinion does not lessen my pride.
How is it pretentious to have a nursing license plate? It's not my thing, but I can see wanting it. I think using the word pretentious in your post is a bit pretentious especially with something so trivial.
Why do people have to impress people or be showy to people about what they do for a living? That is how it is pretentious.
I am happy to be a nurse, but the only people I brag about it, is the State Trooper when I am getting stopped for speeding. I do that in hopes of not getting a ticket. It works 50% of the time.

How many times do you have to get stopped for speeding before you can statistically analyze the data for a success rate? I hope it's only twice!
Really, you resent it? Well you would really resent what I think of that, lol. Seriously, why do you give a fig what I think? I was just chiming in with a random opinion, no biggie. I think white chocolate, karaoke and feng shui are lame too. Please don't lose any sleep over it.I totally resent your published sentiment. Can I quote you can I quote you?
I love it:confused:
I don't see it as being pretentious, because being a nurse is not really anything to brag about, frankly. How many nurses are there in the US? It isn't as though it is some special or unique designation. Now, if I were an astronaut, that would be worth bragging about! As for the speeding ticket issue, a better idea would be to obey the speed limit. A "vanity plate" doesn't protect the other drivers from one person's recklessness. Why do people have to impress people or be showy to people about what they do for a living? If you don't give a fig, why are you even responding?
Move on, please, to topics that are worthy of your DNP consideration. Us RN's (minus the doctorate) may have topics of interest that should be below your radar and unworthy of your consideration.

Even washashores in Massachusetts can get a Cape Cod license plate...it's all about the money. Maybe it's the same with the RN plate?
