RN License plate

Nurses General Nursing

Published

In my state we can get an auto license plate that has RN with a picture of stethoscope on it. Today I learned an Lpn in my facility has one on her car. She is not in school to obtain her her and no one in her household is an RN. I just find this strange.

I wouldn't get a nurse license plate. Regarding the OP, if that person is an LPN and wanted to broadcast her profession and a LPN tag wasn't available, then she got the next best thing. Most people don't realize what LPN is, they think "RN" when they hear the word nurse, so she probably just ordered a nurse license plate with no choice to designate LPN on it. Deal with it. LPNs are nurses too.

I have an RN back window decal sticker in he upper right corner of my window, in the shape of the superman symbol. I am proud to be a nurse....nothing is stopping this girl from showin' some pride :nurse:

I stopped going places in my scrubs because of all the medical questions I received. I can't imagine how many people would be standing by my car ready to ask me a health question. But if a person isn't an RN then no they shouldn't have an RN plate.

I'm ok with my generic license plate. I can shop in peace.

I've worn scrubs out and about, even while wearing my work ID with the large tag that screams "RN" in 36 point white print, and I've never been asked medical questions by random strangers. Go fig.

I'm personally not a fan of the RN plate and/or having RN in your tag number, but if it makes someone happy to have such a thing, then more power to them.

I just would never want a license plate that said RN on it at all. Doctors don't have special "Doctor" license plates do they?

In some states they do,, I believe NY does.

Well, if a LPN got a plate that explicitly implied he's a registered nurse, yeah, that's fraud.

But some of the plates people on this thread are calling "RN plates" simply say "I'm a nurse!" and have a picture of a stethoscope. How on earth would it be wrong for a LPN to have such a plate? Do we really need to have a "the N in LPN stands for nurse" discussion again?

Please God, NO!

A British friend of mine summed it up nicely when she said that she found the American need to ostentatiously proclaim their personal beliefs and/or status to the public to be a little creepy.

I think it's a fine fine thing that we live in a country where we can do this.

On topic, if the plates had some dignity to them, okay.

I don't want nurse plates, but if one's going to have them, hopefully they aren't cheesy.

What bothers me about nursing stuff is that it is often sickeningly cute.

Do doctors run around in t-shirts with cartoon kittens in lab coats that have "Doctors are purrrrrfect!" scrolled throughout the pattern?

No.

I don't like the "Be a nurse!" or "Nurses rock!" crap.

Trust me... I'm the last person to have a stick up my rump, but our job isn't "cute", it's not easy to just "be a nurse!" and I don't think we need some ridiculous slogan to tells us that we "rock" and give us validation.

Not on my t-shirt, coffee mug nor my gosh-darn license plate.

This is how I really feel :lol2:

So I was parking in the lot at a facility where I was interviewing...parked next to a car with the plate that read "420 RN" The "RN" was the special plate designation. Seriously?!?!?!? Even if it was by accident, I'd have had to send them back!!

Mr./Ms. McCluskey,

Sure hope that the person you parked next to wasn't the one interviewing you---and then reading your commentary here! Ouch.

Am starting to wish I was an astronaut.

That's hysterical :) Wouldn't have it on my car though.
