The Rittenhouse trial has begun in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The prosecution is presenting first, but apparently the defense argument will be self-defense. So a 17 year old travels out of state with his rifle to a demonstration because he fears for his life?

That's not much more than the cost of the damage caused by the Stop The Steal riot at the Capitol on January 6. At least in Kenosha they were protesting something real.
Damages were more like $50 million.

According to the law, no, Rittenhouse was not old enough to own or carry that rifle that he used to kill two people. You can read the statute. This is not a hard concept.
948.60 Possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18.
(1) In this section, “dangerous weapon" means any firearm, loaded or unloaded; any electric weapon, as defined in s. 941.295 (1c) (a); metallic knuckles or knuckles of any substance which could be put to the same use with the same or similar effect as metallic knuckles; a nunchaku or any similar weapon consisting of 2 sticks of wood, plastic or metal connected at one end by a length of rope, chain, wire or leather; a cestus or similar material weighted with metal or other substance and worn on the hand; a shuriken or any similar pointed star-like object intended to injure a person when thrown; or a manrikigusari or similar length of chain having weighted ends.
(2)
(a) Any person under 18 years of age who possesses or goes armed with a dangerous weapon is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor
You obviously followed the trial closely. Therefore, you know that above you are missing a key portion of the law that is relevant. The part that led to the judge to dismiss the charge.

What do you think these articles prove? Did you even read the first one? None of them seem to make the point that you are trying to make about the Chauvin trial.
Have you ever heard the axiom "garbage in/garbage out"? The Western Journal seems to be one of your preferred resources. What a shame that you inform yourself with such low quality information.

I listed government losses not those covered by personal or corporate insurance. It's not necessary to conflate government costs with private costs when talking about attacks on government unless one is trying to misrepresent the facts.

The part that led the judge to dismiss that charge was this...language of exception...allowing teens to carry hunting rifles...presumably for hunting and not for patrolling an area of a city during a protest. That is certainly one of the features of this trial and judicial judgement that will be examined over time. The confusing Wisconsin law prohibits all citizens from possessing short barrel rifles...not just teens.
Post trial Rittenhouse about Biden.. an insinuation Rittenhouse called “actual malice, defaming my character.” Not bad language for an 18 year old, but remember he had the best legal team money could buy. He's also setting the stage for the post trial legacy he wants to establish in holding people accountable for miss-portraying him including his first legal team.
A couple of congresspersons have thrown out the thought of an internship. I love the one that stated "be armed, be dangerous and be moral".
Tucker Carlson is making a documentary about him. I wonder if Rittenhouse is getting compensated.
I believe in the court system, but I also don't think he should be used as the poster child for the gun lobby and self-defense. He's no hero.

If your point is that comparisons that have occurred completely unrelated to the trial are ridiculous then I completely agree.
This us an example of him being paraded as a role model of figure.
It didn't come up at the trial because the judge would not allow it.

Also he never crossed state lines and the rifle was always in Kenosha. The gun was legal because it had a specific length.

You demand sources and the first thing you do is criticize them. And/or try to assert them to your very own propaganda criteria. This is why I do not source often. You don't read and automatically dismiss them.
It's a shame for a person who thinks their opinion is superior and the great propaganda finder would attack the source instead of the argument.

Does the cost matter? It was just a little bit damaged? People lost their businesses and sorry insurance doesn't make it okay. Not to mention the premiums they'll have to pay now for being located in a riot zone.
