Rio Hondo College ADN Spring 2020

Published

Hey everyone! I thought I'd open this forum for those of us applying to Rio Hondo. Applications are right around the corner and it would be great to use this as a means of communication. Feel free to post, ask questions, or respond. I hope to hear from you!

Did anyone take a picture of the uniform forms today? I got a really blurry photograph and I’d like to know the information in case I’d like to order something extra.

Did she ever mention how much the entire program will cost?

Do we have to purchase the castle branch today or can we wait ? She wasn’t really clear on some info. She didn’t discuss the cost of the program. I almost purchased uniforms today until I told the lady that I was an alternate she asked why I would even buy uniforms if I don’t know yet. So she told me I could wait to place an order because they won’t ship until January anyways.

You can wait on ordering it as they have an online order site....and the uniform lady said they would most likely ship all or most items out by December. As for cost, I just figured it would be comparable to other community colleges ADN's around the figures of $8,000. After searching online last night though I did find this http://nursingpub.com/rio-hondo-college-adn-rn-nursing-program-prerequisites-reviews/ which says $9,200. Not sure how reliable it is though.

hi guys I just received an email that I was provisionally accepted into the adn program! I was on the alternate list before so I think some people might be dropping.

That’s amazing congrats ! I’m hoping I get an email too lol

did you purchase castle branch already ?

@Chels not yet but I plan to do so today! I was feeling a little discouraged after the meeting so I held off until I knew for sure that I was accepted.

@dnk11 oh okay I’m doing the same. I feel you cause that’s how I’m feeling. But so happy for you ! Congrats once again !

Has anyone who's been admitted to the program been able to get a hearing test for the physical? My doctor doesn't do them and I've emailed the school about it but they haven't responded.

If you are a student at Rio Hondo College, you can get a free vision and hearing test done at the Student Health & Psychological Services Office located in the Student Services Building, RM SS230. Call their office to make an appointment at (562) 908-3438. They charge $10 for the TB test. Not sure what they charge for titers. You could Google "Public Health Clinics or low cost Community Health Clinics" to see if you can get free/low cost titers, immunizations, a physical, etc.

If you have a primary doctor, call their office to help you. It is best to start early since the holidays are around the corner. People are going out of town, taking holiday vacation, and some clinics might be only open working on half day schedules. The deadline for everything to be completed is Jan. 3, 2020.
