i start my ADN program on august 20th (YAY!). at our orientation last month they told us that there is required summer reading & there will be a test the first week of class... on thirteen chapters! i'm excited to get started & to have something to occupy myself while i wait for august 20th... let's hope this optimism lasts once school starts & we only have a week to read thirteen chapters instead of a couple months! so does anyone else have required summer reading? & have you started/finished it yet?

BoonersmomRN 1,132 Posts Jul 19, 2007 I had this back in Fundamentals ( had to read like 17 chapters before the class even started)..but have not had to do this since.
puresass 314 Posts Jul 19, 2007 Did Roland do your orientation?no, roland is doing the night & weekend program, so laurie jordan & nancy tendal ran our orientation (they're teaching the day classes).the thirteen chapters aren't super intense reading... it's mostly ethics & nursing history & theory & things... it's just A LOT of material! & there are eight chapters to read for the second week. not nearly as bad as thirteen, but still a lot to handle.i'm so, soooo excited to get started, though!!

Jul 19, 2007 They haven't required us to read anything...but they did give us the syllabus for the first couple of weeks "just in case we wanted to start reading ahead."I'm taking that as a strong hint to start reading :)
