Republican Criminals!

Republican Shenanigans!

Here's an article from Florida about a brazen political theft from a former state SENATOR with a history of dubious dealings before he was even elected and continuing with the help of the state Republicans to do the dirty on current campaigns!

All over this country, republicans are repeatedly and blatantly breaking campaign laws to not only disenfranchise voters but to enrich themselves from donor monies. AND NOTHING is being done about it!

It's like third world politics in a supposedly industrialized country! With the help of the very same people who they are sticking it to. No offense, but aren't older people suppose to get wise from experience? Is the Florida sun bleaching the brains of its older people?

Just to clarify, as answered the question posed, you are suggesting that Republicans and Texans are stupid?

Let's just say that I believe most Republicans like to be led.  As I've said half jestingly before, Republicans are dog people and Democrats are cat people.  Dogs respond to a pack leader and you can't herd cats to do anything together as a group.  I did end my comment with a smilie.  I would rather go to prison than to have to live in rural Texas.

That is so well put ???

There is a reason that I rarely post in any of the political discussions here on AN.  Not because I don't have a thick skin, not because I can't intelligently discuss the topics, and not because all I am capable of doing is posting the latest talking points from the conservative talking head of the week.

Rather, over the past few years it has frequently been insinuated, and at times outright stated, that I am homophobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic, misogynistic white supremacist.  Most recently, I was compared with a holocaust denier.  And today, it was insinuated that I am, at best, being led like a dog in a pack.  All because I am a conservative Republican.

On this note, I think I am going to strike my colors and withdraw from the field of battle, and leave the political discussion to those of you who, in your mind a least, are so much smarter, kinder, and better than I.

I think there is an understanding in this forum and I may be wrong, but I should have been clearer.  All Trumpers are Republicans but not all Republicans are Trumpers and as I have said many times in these political forums, the most intellectual Republican thinkers have left the party and I take their thoughts seriously.  George Will, Jonah Goldberg, George Conway, Andy McKean, Justin Amash, Paul Ryan and  Steve Schmidt in addition to the regular folks who have left.  The party has no platform except for destruction of our better angels.  There were no ideas explored at the Republican Convention.  They are bereft of a moral compass.  They worship Trump over their God because Jesus would be really annoyed with these defectives who use his name for the basest motives.  Any Republican who doesn't lick Trumps heel spurs is castigated and called 8 year old epithets like "dumb" and "loser."  I have respect for the folks who have left and align myself with their centrism.  But no, right now I'm having a difficult time accepting people who have stayed with the party.  America's loss.

Same reason I quit posting here as well. IMO, those of the Liberal/Democrat nature have zero interest or intention of having a legit conversation in a civil manner. Most just want to degrade those who have a different perspective or opinion. I have checked back every now and then but it only seems to be the same ole people with the same ole attitudes. Not interested in being called names etc, I have/know others that enjoy the conversations and really want to, and do learn from each other's different experiences and perspectives; this attitude is what will help us all come together as it always has in the past.

I guess they will carry on with their echo chamber!

Have you ever been on the floor with nurses? Do you ever hear what's discussed or gossiped about at the nurse's station by some nurses?

If you are none of those things, you shouldn't be bothered. I visit other threads here and try to elicit through digs etc, logical, scientific responses in emotionally charged subject matters and get taken to task but I do get some information about subjects I know next to nothing about.

I think you are exhibiting the same emotional response! You will be missed by me because you might have a different perspective but you stand up and fight and I respect that!

As I responded to Chare earlier!

I always listen to what Steve Schmidt has to say because he's passionate and intelligent but I always keep in mind that he's republican and his recent situation bore that out.

I don't judge him because people are complicated and can be intelligent but also greedy, benevolent but also selfish, angry but restrained. They are like an onion. Many layers.

That's too bad.

There's evidence of echo chamber beliefs across the political spectrum. It's particularly prevalent among those who rarely venture outside of their comfortable cable television and Internet platforms.  The nonsense floating around right now about the vaccines and the border hysteria are good examples.  It's difficult to have meaningful conversations when facts, evidence and perspective are skewed for partisan reasons.

I don't see too many posts that make generalized statements about all of any group.  But there's no question that the Republican political leadership is actively engaged in misrepresentations and lies, especially relative to most things Trump. The Republican party is actively engaged in limiting voting access in southern states because of their recent electoral losses. The basis for those changes are racist and un-American.  Blaming the January 6 insurrection on BLM activists is racist. What should we call people who support racist politicians and policy?

Seems like a Republican to back in Texas, endorsed by Adam Kinzinger...

AN encourages various viewpoints to post, it's how we learn from one another. Members just ask that positions be backed up by respected/legitimate healthcare and news websites when posting links, especially healthcare + scientific info since we are a NURSING website

Read all the posts on this thread and decide who is trying to disseminate facts and who is calling anyone who doesn't agree with them "libtards" without any rebuttal of the facts at hand.  I agree that it has become an echo chamber but the over arching mission here is to provide debate and we just aren't seeing anyone post authentically conservative IDEAS, but instead engage in name-calling.  It would be illogical to even think that all "liberal's", whatever that means, agree amongst themselves what values have been assigned to liberalism.  The word, in it's original political meaning, meant a philosophy of being open to new ideas and a degree of ease with change.  I heard a political social scientist on NPR last week discuss how one's political leanings can be determined by the age of 4.5 years since personality charactistics (adventure seeking vs. withdrawal from conflict) can predict what parties these children joined as adults.  I wish I had turned the program on earlier to get the presenter's name but I see that other political sociologists have lots to add: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/how-family-communication-_b_1664970.  So when someone with more conservative leanings posts quality information, we are here to read it.  But no one is going to take seriously the references to non-journalistic quality references.  So, please, conservatives, give us a quality debate without calling your opponents derogatory names!  We are waiting.

Here's an analogy that describes.

You see an old looking car on a car lot, paint is peeling and fading, some rust spots, a couple of small dents but it's a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord. Next to it, is a much newer, nicer looking car with a great paint job, polished and gleaming, but it's a Ford Taurus or a Chevy Impala. Which car would you choose to buy?

That's the way people are in every facet that you choose to examine them from. Me, it's the toyota or honda. Even if it's ten years older! Because I know that the engineering supersedes any kind of abuse it may have taken. It might be unattractive or shoddy looking, but the pedigree guarantees reliability and peace of mind!

When someone calls another person or race, thieves and murderers and that some people come from *** hole countries and that their were good people on both sides, it tells me about the core values of that person. The way they were engineered! And then when his supporters fail to denounce him and they support pro life, except if they are given a Crack baby to raise refuting their Christian values or that Democrats are evil and un-American etc, it's easy to choose who to support!

Someone with five previous bankruptcies and a history of stiffing his workers cannot be trusted and by extension, anyone who supports him. Guilty by association!

Then you have people like mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Devin Nunes, Kevin McCarthy, Bill Barr, and on and on. It's a house built of rotten timber!
