By the time I enroll I will have 4+ yrs exp in community health... I want to use this degree to help break into acute care.. I have only done psych hospital nursing, never med surg, and want to get into the ED.

Anyone know of a program where you can pick your own clinical placement?

You have to do clinicals? Why not do it online? I'm going through Ohio University's RN to BSN online and I don't have to do any clinicals at all..

I was also not required to complete any clinical rotations for my RN-to-BSN program, nor did I particularly want to. After all, as Sweet Brown would say, "ain't nobody got time for that."

I will cut and paste what I wrote to you in a different thread where you asked the same thing:

Pretty much all RN-BSN programs will have some type of clinical/practicum component in community health. That's the main thing that differentiates a BSN program from an ADN program (added: it's typically not "clinicals" the way you had in nursing school, but rather, going out in the community to complete some type of project). Beyond that, most RN-BSN programs do not have any type of clinical experience, because the assumption is that you've already gotten all of your clinicals in your ADN program, and that you're a working RN, so you don't need additional clinicals.

I doubt there is any BSN completion program that will allow you to do a med-surg or ED clinical in place of community health. As klone noted, community health is a core component of BSN completion programs because it is considered one of the few elements that distinguish BSN curricula from ADN curricula. There is no med-surg or ED content in BSN completion program curricula.

However, as also noted, there are plenty of online BSN completion programs that won't require any community health clinical (I don't know how they get away with that, but I guess it can be done).

It's not that the program requires Community Health, OP, it's that all of the accrediting agencies require this for your school to be able to grant the degree. And as stated above, it is not the typical clinical placement- it is more of an independent thing with the majority of programs. In no way will completing the CH requirement prevent you from getting in to acute care- rather, having the BSN will open many doors to you in the acute care world.

I already have my adn and would like to get my bsn which are the classes that I can take to graduate with BSN degree?

Thank you

It's not a matter of "which classes" to take; you need to apply and get accepted into a BSN completion program offered by a school of nursing. There are plenty of online programs, and there are probably schools near you that have programs.

Best wishes!
