Recruiters not telling us the truth

dont be so hard on the allnurses family (or recruiter). the military is rapidly changing. i have talked to someone who went to some class only a few weeks prior to me going and by the time i got there they changed everything. not anyones fault. you have to be very flexable in the military. i hope things work out the way you want. good luck in your military career.

p.s. you will meet liars everywhere, civilian side too.

I agree with Rme4life. At this point, you are doing the right thing by questioning your ability to tolerate the Military's non-stop changing status.

From what I have seen in the last 3 yrs, "change" is constant. Seriously, maybe a civilian job would be better suited for you......at least for a few years. You will gain tremendous experience that you can then bring into your military career. See what happens this fall, but work in the meantime.......

........And your degree/GPA will still be good & valid forever (not wasted)

Everyone already knows that Change is constant. Wherever you go, there is always change. But that is not what the problem is. The problem is, if change is indeed happening in the military, (just like anywhere else), then how come the recruiter don't change their statements? They will tell you one thing and thats it. Even though what they said are different from what other recruiters said. How come you guys dont even know the quota for the fiscal year has been met? How come you don't know that? If your recruiter tells you that, then I don't think there will be anyone posting here when they are going for commission and so on and so forth. How come my recruiters tell me "Don't pay attention to what you read in this site??????? How come one person here wrote, her recruiter told her that "Navy don't need nurses right now, instead they need Social worker? Where did that information come from (Is it because of change?) So the poor lady have to start from scratch and finish her Masters for social work? If change is your reason why recruiters tell us different things, thats your opinion.

With regards to your advice that maybe civilian work is better for me (or work first to gain valuable experience with the Navy), I don't think so. I am not waiting until I become 30-40 years old before joining the Navy. (Of course, no offense to anyone!! I respect you guys). I am joining the Navy now and want to use my skills and talents for Navy's benefit.

Don't misunderstood me and think that I hate "change" nor the US Navy. I love the NAvy and I am looking forward to being a part of it. I have been in constant change and if you only know my history, you won't believe how I rises to the occassion everytime there is change going on in my life. So I dont hate "change" nor the Navy. What I hate is the lack of "ethics" in the recruiting level. In other words, is it change or is it deception? or lack of knowledge? or lack of trust? or lack of communication? what ever it is, I hope it is not just change alone. Because if that is the case, then there is no other way we could intervene and improve the recruiting process.

I think I would continue to question the recruiter and get everything in writing. That is the only to ensure your best interests.

it sounds like you have come far in your life, and good for you. this process of accessing into the military (like all aspects of life) is a learning experience. this is one point my recruiter has mentioned to me several times.......your career and life path is determined by your initative.

why are you waiting on what your recruiter says......you are a smart kid, find out the answers yourself......ie make a dozen or so phonecalls to find the status of your ***** packet................where is it now, where is it going tomorrow, what department will recieve it, then what happens to it, who will get it next.....when will i get booked for officer basic training......who do i call to confirm that i am in.....when will i get the paper work/orders, then what happens, how long do i wait for the plane reservations?...........ie, etc,etc,etc.

in my accessing pathway, i have made maybe 100 phone calls in the last 4 months. but i got my packet where it was suppose to go and now i am in nursing anesthesia school......(in record time). but i am ocd about my future....no-one's stopping or delaying me.....without a fight.

my droning on here is to give you a hint .......to stop depending on others (recruiter) for your success. why do you care about their misinformation? pick up the phone and talk to hrc, find out the real story....on your own.

good luck and stop blaming others......no one cares about your future like you.

what is said here is what you need to be doing. you are the one who has to look out for your own career, no one else will. it does not matter if you join the military or not, if you do not look out for yourself you will be $*&+ on at work, or at least feel that way. i also wonder if the military is right for you at this time, dont get me wrong i encourage you to explore this as an option for you, but from reading your post, you need to think look and hard about joining. it is not like working at a civilian hospital where you can just quit. also, remember recruiters are salesman. quotas change all the time, when they asses people they are looking for new grads and experienced nurses with different quotas, that could be a reason why you have heard different things in the post. have you talked with a navy nurse yet? if not you need to soon. good luck on your decision and i hope that you make the best one for you.

Let me just clarify, are you saying that joining the military is not for you if you question the "recruiting process or any process there is in the military?
