Im graduating May 14 with BSN, suma cum laude with GPA of 3.95. I am currently working part-time RN (with ADN) at a community hospital. Im only 26 years old. Im single and readly to relocate. I submitted my packet end of January. My receruiter told me I got selected but because the Navy quota had been met, I'm going to have to wait until October to go ODS. However, she mentioned that I am on the alternate list. But what really bothers me is why a lot of nurses and applicants here does not seem to know this information my recruiter told me. It just doesnt make any sense to me.
What I really hate is why those recruiters don't tell us exactly the truth. It is obvious that the recruiters were telling us different things. So, Im done reading allnurses.com for this topics because it just keeps giving you wrong information. I hate to think like this but it seems to me that its either they don't tell us exactly the truth or they just don't know what they are doing. So, for my recruiter who told me that I should expect going to ODS on October, thats fine, I will wait until October. But if I dont get to ODS on October, then thats it for me. At least I tried my best to be part of the Navy. I dont want my high GPA and my experience and young opportunities (Im only 26, single and willing to relocate anywhere) be used working with people who either dont know what they are talking or doing and/or don't tell me exactly the truth, I rather work in a civilian environment.

With over 20 years military experience it is the content of your post on recruiting, not questioning the recruiting process that makes me wonder if the military would be a good fit for you. Can I say what you wrote that is making me feel that the military might not be right for you, no. But I am going off of past experiences with people I have meet over the years. Yes, it is hard to tell by just reading the limited info in your post if you would or would not be a good fit. That is why I am encourging you to explore your options and your feelings to make sure that joining the Navy is the best for you. I tell anyone who is thinking about joining the military either enlisted or officer to explore all the services to make sure they are making the right decision because you can't quit once you join like a civilian job if you do not like it.
Good luck on what ever route you choose & I hope that you make the right one for you.
