Nursing Students NCLEX

I loved the triage questions. this is how I tackled them. First use your ABC's whose airway breathing or circulation is compromised? They are who you assess first. If no one is in that advance on to maslow's heirarchy of needs,a nd find out whoose basic needs are not being met, theya re the one you see first. ie a pt in a wet bed is bad, but not as bad as a pt who is wheezing and may progress to complete airway obstruction. Good Luck.

Hi! i just want to get acquainted with those who passed the NCLEX already.I took it once but i failed because i ran out of time.I had a hard time dealing with triage questions..maybe someone can give me tips or any possible help.thank you

Hi there! Well I took NCLEX in july, 75 questions at 40 minutes and passed. I had a ton of priority questions as well. NCLEX tips that I have are just to feel comfortable with questions. Practice a ton of questions. They say over 5000 before you take the test, and review over the type of questions you missed. Sanders has a CD ROM of couple thousand questions and that is what I used a lot. Any other questions feel free to email me at [email protected]

Best of luck to ya!

Hey everyone, I just found out today that I passed the NCLEX at 75 questions. I am quite happy right now :) but also wanted to pass some advice on to those who are preparing. As far as the priority questions go, I got lots of those on my exam and probably the best information I was given on how to answer those came from the review course I took. The instructor said that to answer priority questions, you should always ask yourself which patient is experiencing s/s that are UNEXPECTED for the diagnosis. For example, a patient recovering from a bronchoscopy who is complaining of a sore throat is less of a priority than a patient who is post-op from a TURP and having red blood in the catheter.

Also, someone was talking about percentages they are getting on their practice exams. In the same review (which was taught by a man who used to work for the big-name review companies, so I trust his word) I mentioned before, the instructor said that Lippincott is one of the hardest NCLEX review books to use. He said that students who achieve 67% or higher on their practice Lippincott exams are NCLEX-ready. So, 70-80% is a great score in Lippincott! That's what I used and the highest score I got was an 87% once and I passed the first time with 75 q's! So, I say go for it and get the NCLEX over with - I bet you'll pass w/ flying colors!

Hi, peachy83. I have Lippincot by Diane Billings (7th Ed). Is this the same Lippincot you used?

No, I used the Diane Billings' Lippincott 8th ed. But, I have heard that the NCLEX only changes questions every 2-4 years, so one edition's difference probably won't matter. Good luck studying!

The lippincott questions are the same in both book asside from the new addition including the new formatted questions. I am studying using both additions and find this the most comprehensive book on the market.

Hope that helps

I just took my Nclex today. The computer shut off at 75 questions. I do not know if that means I bombed it or aced it. Any ideas?

Ideas? Yes....you aced it or bombed it ;)

Really, the likelihood is greater of you passing than failing since around 85% of first-time testers pass.

If you were well-prepared and were able to think critically, it's likely you passed. If you were ill-prepared and had trouble with what the question was asking you, it's not so likely you passed.

Hang in there....the odds are with you! :)
