  1. I hope you didnt really mean one student spending MILLIONS for a a 4-yr-BSN program -because that was how I understood your post. Then, I stand corrected.
  2. MILLIONS? Oh, why do we love to exaggerate....!!!!
  3. where did you get that info? outrageous!
  4. hey, i just checked idfpr.com and yes, illinois does not need toefl if your ces report indicates that your nursing education was in english. this had been their policy until january of this year when they specifically required all foreign educated nurses(no exception!) to take toefl. so you may not take toefl anymore, lucky you!!!
  5. NCLEX coming to Philippines -- Board of Nursing By Veronica Uy INQUIRER.net Last updated 06:39pm (Mla time) 02/09/2007 read the whole story: http://globalnation.inquirer.net/news/breakingnews/view_article.php?article_id=48501
  6. this is what i've been saying bfore in other thread, that illinois doesnt require applicants to take toefl as long as their ces reports indicate that their nursing education was conducted in english. however, when i checked illinois bon website just lately, it seemed that toefl is now mandatory to all foreign-trained applicants.
  7. yes, you definitely require a police clearance. My bro-n-law was asked to submit a clearance from Qatar police even though it had been 20 yrs since he left that country. You will receive a letter from immigration that will detail the procedures on how to get one
  8. hi. if you have no problem with the internet, theres no need to buy the software. i used the free online version and i definitely recommnend it. it was very helpful. heres the link: sorry, the link is no longer offering free review.
  9. I think the SSN given by the BON is simply a code for applicants without SSN. I remember reading an instruction in the application form to use 999-99-9999 if the applicant does not have a valid SSN. After passing the NCLEX, they just change the last 3 or 4 digits, probably as temporary number for the successful applicant.
  10. I'm quite sure you passed! At HK testing center, all pieces of jewelry are not allowed inside. Just your passport and locker key. They even asked me to remove my blazer.
  11. Wow, you must be very good. Getting nurse of the year award is no small feat. You make us Filipinos proud. Re this thread, new and inexperienced RNs have problems finding a sponsor to petition them. Ads are usually very specific with job experience. Even if you go from one agency to another, attend job fairs, chances are you'll be asked to have at the minimum a year of hospital experience. Not teaching, not community. I would say that friends and relatives esp. in the US are still the best source of info on openings for new grads. Internet too. We would love to hear how you and others got petitioned even without any experience.
  12. thanks for your reply. I just found a hospital in CA willing to petition foreign-educated nurses like me. My license is yet to be issued by Illinois BON having passed the nClex only recently. Would you know if it's possible to apply for endorsement this early? That hospital requires CA license for it to start considering my application. Thanks
  13. With the retrogression looming, what are we supposed to do now? Any helpful idea pls.... PLUS--Time frame is about 14 months to complete the immigration process. Most USRN licenses need to be renewed 2 years after issuance but we do not have SSN needed for renewal, so we will all be holding expired licenses by then. No big deal, you think? Are nurses still in demand these days. I've been doing jobsearching for two weeks now and offers have always come from agencies who require hospital experience. And ithought I read from here that experience is not needed... Anybody who knows of hospitals that do direct hiring of foreign trained nurses???? Thanks
  14. yeah, it's free. here's another site that offers free review: www.rnboardreview.com. you just have to register tho but reg is free
