Rady Children's Nurse Residency Summer 2020

Updated:   Published

Hello all!

I couldn't find a discussion for the Summer 2020 program so I thought I would start one! What did everyone apply for?

Does anyone know if Rady accepts many out-of-state applicants?

I put open to all & I have an interview for surgical.. I had heard from alumni after I applied that they say it’s better to put a specific unit so I wasn’t expecting an interview, but who knows how they really choose!

CONGRATS on the interview!! I understand that line of reasoning as probably putting down a specific unit shows that you’re *really* interested in that unit. However it seems like once you are rejected from that unit your chances at getting in the residency as a whole are over. On my hand, I felt that I wasn’t super competitive as an applicant so I felt that if I had chosen a specific unit I wouldn’t have gotten in so I stated open to all in hopes of increasing my chances.

I was thinking the same thing when I put open to all. Oh well. I never even got to begin my senior capstone because of COVID so I probably don't have a chance ?

I applied to hem/onc and got an interview for surgical. ?‍♀️ Either way I’m stoked for the opportunity.

Hi guys! I got a call last week for an interview for hem/onc. Anyone else hear back from this unit?

CONGRATS, I’ve heard wonderful things about the surgical unit!

Has anyone received an interview from the NICU or ED yet?

Anyone else not heard anything at all? Wondering if that is good or bad? Hoping for an interview... that application was lengthy!

are the interviews being conducted in person or virtual?

Specializes in pediatrics.

It seems like they're letting us choose because of the pandemic, but they said they prefer it in person.

Mine is on zoom

mine is also through zoom (they never gave me a choice)

Has anyone that interviewed for surgical got a reference check yet? Also did anyone ask if there’s going to be second round interviews I forgot to ask!
