ok i just got off the phone with a recruiter from Onassignment who says that the housing stipend plus meal stipend per DAY in phoenix is 115 which equals 3450 per month and he says it not taxable plus he is offering me a pretty good hourly rate and told me it is all going to be in the contract....now that sounds like a huge stipend.....has anyone worked for this company? iam not sure if he was being honest since its hard to believe that i'd get that much. he says its cuz a lot of people dont want to go to phoenix in the summers and ill be going in august....i dont know..???

I have heard it is terribly hot there in the summer. He must be paying you a dollar (115) for every degree in fahrenheit it gets up to on an average summer day! It sounds like a good offer though if that's where you want to go. Just make sure you have everything in writing in your contract before you sign your life away. good luck

everything in writing, and air conditioning!!! Sounds great to me, for that kind of money, I would do it!

I work for them and they are as honest as they say they are. The contract is very upfront but read the contract in full. If you cancel, you will be out some money so be sure that taking this contract is absolute. I have had absolutely NO problems at all working for them and highly recommend them.

Sorry, but it is not the stipend, but the fact that you are not going to have a legal residence in your original state. Once you move from there, this is no longer tax deductable. That is what you need to consider. If you do not have a legal residence in another locale, the stipend is not tax deductible..............no matter what your recruiter tells you. They are not the ones that are doing your taxes.

Suggest that you speak with a tax preparer that specializes in nurses. Or you will have a large tax bill to pay in the end, and that is not a good thing.

Same thing with the meal stipend, and they do not pay that to you. It is something that is taken from your taxes at the end of the year.

The agency is an excellent one, but you are not getting the proper information for your situation. That is something that you need to be aware of and do your homework on.

:yeahthat: Whether or not it is tax deductible is dependent on your unique situation, not what the recruiter says. Unless your recruiter is a CPA I would not rely on them for tax advice ;)

Thanks for this information. It sounds as if you have had some experience in this matter. Do you know if you are trying to sell your house, can the housing/meal allowance be tax deductible until the house is sold?

I would be maintaining the home {house pmts, insurance, taxes, maintenance, etc} until it is sold and returning to it to live between assignments even though it would be minimally furnished.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Yep totally true! I've been with them for a few assignments and absolutely love them. I'm in a very small place at a hospital that does 300 del a year and my stipend in $2700. It just depends on the area. I have a friend that just asked about them tonight and she's headed to Phenix for the summer. They still need more travelers where u are?

hi k cole...can you tell me if you know how much of a stipend your friend is getting in phoenix? also did u get 2700 per month? what state were u in? does onassignment have lots of assignments usually and find quick placements for you or does it take a while? thanks!!

Yeah, It's $2700 per month & I'm in a very small place in Missouri. I do L&D & they have sufficient assignments. I have never really checked any of the other specialities but I'm sure they have assignments. I'm also not real sure what my friend got in Pheonix but the stipends usually depend on the area. The big cities have great stipends of course. One reason my stipend is so high b/c they offer rental cars & I didn't need one.

Hi Suzanne i understand what you are saying. since i wont have a permanent address when i travel to phoenix my housing stipend will be taxed. But you are saying that i will have to pay back the housing and food stipend at the end of the year..what do you mean by that? You mean id have to pay taxes on it if i dont get taxed now right?

I had another question as well. my recruiter said since my housing stipend has to be taxed he can include it in my hourly rate so i get taxed lessed. What do you guys think about that? Wont i have to pay more taxes at the end of the year since my income will be in a higher bracket? Should i just not include the stipend in my hourly rate and just have it taxed separate?

I figured even if my stipend is taxed i start off with 3450 per month and after taxes it would still be around 2400 ish per month which is a lot given that i will be staying with my sister and wont be paying rent so ill be able to pocket that..

Would anyone mind sharing the avg hourly rate for Phoenix excluding the housing/meals allowance. I own a home and travel using tax free housing, plan to go th Az this winter, looking for the best agency overall. Thanks
