Hello Everyone,
So on Friday afternoon I had a fantastic interview for a nursing job. The manager said she would make a decision very soon and would let me know on Tuesday, (as Monday is a stat) and apologized that I would be waiting over the long weekend. Today is Monday and I just so happened to check the job posting and it says the job has been filled! How can this be?
So my thoughts are
1. They awarded the job to someone else - sometime on Friday after my interview?
2. They have decided to hire me - but I haven't received a job offer or accepted?
3. They marked the position as filled in error - this seems to be a very unlikely error
Please help me figure out what most likely is going on, I am in agony

Maybe they just weren't in the office to call today but told IT to mark it as filled fri after talking to you? Good thoughts your way!

I've actually never seen that. I mean, I would imagine they'd just remove the listing if the post is no longer available for whatever reason?

Maybe they just marked it so no one would apply instead of removing it. Good luck!

I applied in June. Interviewed for 3 different units....one at the end of July, the other two in August. All three times the jobs were marked as closed/filled before I interviewed. That hospital closes positions once applications have been reviewed and the groups for the next phase (interviews) are scheduled. If they still have multiple positions to fill, then they will post another opening for that unit under a new job #, this is to get a new selection of applications. I did receive an offer from my interviews and start orientation later this month.
I hope you hear good news tomorrow!

You do have to give them credit for keeping their job postings updated frequently. I hope the job is yours.

Where I work, job postings are merely formalities. Jobs are already filled before the posting is made. People are interviewed, which is insulting and a huge waste of time and money.
Admittedly my facility is small.
Hopefully the OPs situation is different.

My guess is that it was already filled by an internal candidate.

THey had already decided on who was going to fill the position, from within the organization. Posting the job and interviewing candidates was just a necessary formality. Sorry, it happens everywhere...

Sometimes job postings automatically expire after a certain length of time. Hope that's the case for the OP.
