Quickest Way for Getting Things Done and Licensed in US

Published

As most of you know, I have been recommending initial licensure in NY for quite some time. And for those of you that did not heed the warning, you now know why.

New York is three easy applications only, next you take the NCLEX exam, then you get a hard license and can endorse to almost any state afterwards. Because of the requirements of the Special Credentials Verification for New York, you do not have to do any of the running around to obtain your documents. CGFNS will obtain them for you....after you sign the release and send them the money.

NY also requires two short classes that can be done on-line, one on Child Abuse, and the other on Infection. Both are available for about $15 each and take only one hour or so.

NY BON application can be found at http://www.op.nyed.gov. You only need to submit "Form 1."

The Special Credentials Verification can be found at http://www.CGFNS.org, as well as the Visa Screen Application.

Once you have received documentation from NY that your credentials have been received and approved, submit payment to Pearson-Vue for the NCLEX exam. http://www.perasonvue.com. They are the ones that will actually send you the ATT letter, upon approval of the Board of Nursing. Be aware that this ATT (authorization to test) is only good for ninety (90) days. You will have onlt that amount of time to get the exam done in, otherwise you will lose your payment and have to start again.

Hope that this helps................ :balloons:

Most importantly, NY will issue you the license without a Social Security Number.

Suzanne do you know a state which has a strong Arab community?

I'm actually looking for a state that has a strong Arab or generally Muslim communities so at least I won't have difficulties practicing my religion... But anywhere would still be fine, besides I was able to adjust here in the Philippines which is predominantly a non-Islamic country. :-)

Michigan actually has a very large Arab population, the major newspaper in Arabic was produced there for many years, but is now produced in Los Angeles.

Wow I didn't know they had a newspaper in Arabic there. That's nice to know. Thanks Suzanne. :-)

You actually do not need the additional courses before you get approval to write the NCLEX exam. The courses each take only about one hour and can be donw on the computer. And at a cost of about $15 US each. They just have to be completed before you begin work in NY, if you decide to work there.

Hi suzanne.. I really regret not reading this forum before I applied for the NCLEX exam.. I should have applied in NY... I applied in California already, about a month ago.. I have a few questions, I hope you can help me..

1. I submitted an application to California already, since I haven't received an ATT yet, and I haven't paid through Pearsonvue, can I have another application at NY?

2. If a pursue my California application and I pass the NCLEX, how long will they be able to give me an SSS number? Do I need to work in California first before I get to endorse my license to another state?

3. If I'm planning to work in Texas (i've read they require 4 years experience before they accept an endorsement of license), and I have a California license does that mean Texas would not accept me?

Pardon me for these questions, I'm just confused.

Hi Suzzane!

I did a child abuze training already, but nobody told me about the infection certificate. Can you send me the website please!

Thank you!

Was the child abuse course specifically for NY? It is actually on the same website that you found that course, they are offered all over. You can do a search here for the exact link if you need it again, it is also available on the NY BON website.

Yes the Cild Abuse Course was specially for NY.

Here is the website everybody:

Infection Control can be found on the same site. This is another reason that you should alsways do research yourself on what you will need and not rely on others to tell you. It is listed directly on the NY BON website about these two courses.
